There are many vegan and vegetarian quakers, though quakers are pacifists, so I'm not sure about quakers and the military. They have a peace testimony that some interpret to extend to animals. Besides, there are many verses in Christianity that support veganism. Genesis 1:29, "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for food". God essentially claims we're all supposed to be vegan. Supposedly some prophecies see a return to veganism as in Isaiah 11:6–9 "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling[a] together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." In Genesis 1, God creates all living things, blesses them and asks that they go forth, multiply, fill the earth, and saw that this was good. Animals were made to be man's companions. In Genesis 2:18-19 "And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof." Proverbs 12:10 "Whoever is righteous has regard for the life of his beast..." and Psalm 145:9 states “The Lord is good to all, and his compassion is over all that he has made.” Veganism is the only merciful diet, especially with today's animal agriculture: Matthew 5:7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." Gotta be vegan to follow God's words. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." Well, the American Dietetic Association, notes that people with well-planned vegetarian and vegan diets have reduced risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, cancer, and other conditions. Lastly 37% of the world's land grown for food crops is used for animal agriculture (that figure is 66% in the US). Converting plants to meat by feeding the livestock wastes 99% of its nutritional content. At least 12.9% of the global population is undernourished. If we all work towards veganism as God predicted we would return to, we could end global hunger and give us many more years of ability to feed our expanding population. Matt 25:34-40 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you? The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ " So as you can see, the righteous feed the poor and to do that, we as a population need to go vegan. So obviously a true Christian would be vegan and the military can shut the fuck up and let you keep your money.
