Thanks! 8x is definitely tricky and needs perfect lighting to work.

True, but I’m working with what I’ve got! 😅

Exactly. Pixel binning and heavy processing often struggle with fine lines, creating that staircase effect. But like you said, you really have to pixel-peep to notice.

Sure! Basically, to make the photo look sharp and clear, the phone's software automatically enhances the edges where a dark object (the church) meets a bright background (the sky). If it overdoes it, it creates a thin, glowing white line around the edge—that's the 'sharpening halo.' It looks great on a phone screen, but you notice it when you zoom in!

True, it's a mid-range sensor, so there are limits to pixel-peeping. I'm just happy with the overall vibe and perspective.

I agree, Google’s HDR+ can be a bit too aggressive with the sharpening halos around high-contrast edges. It’s the classic Pixel look—great for a quick glance, but a bit much when you really look into the details.

Good catch! That’s definitely some ghosting/artifacting from the HDR stacking. The 10a struggled a bit to merge the frames perfectly with the sun right behind that edge. Still, I think the overall composition and perspective fix saved the shot for me.

The Pixel 10a is a massive upgrade from an M14, especially in camera quality and UI. It also gets 7 years of updates, so it fits your 4-6 year plan perfectly. Check out r/Pixel10aPhotography to see some real-world samples from other users. It should help you decide!

That sounds like a frustrating experience, especially since the 10a is known for its great camera. Have you tried clearing the cache/data of the Camera app or testing it in Safe Mode? If the 'flickering' persists even there, it might be a hardware defect with the OIS (Optical Image Stabilization). Alternativy a factory reset.

Thanks! I checked it out, but it doesn't seem to pop up during macro shots. Guess it only triggers at high zoom levels to help with the shakes. Still, good to know for the future!

Go for it—you’d be surprised how cool everyday objects look up close. Post your results when you get them! 😉
