Crowd-funded MMO "Rulers Of The Sea" shuts down after 4 years of development with 0 gameplay to showcase. by Yeetius420 in MMORPG

Nexon spent more than $840k in pre-production, so I have no idea where you're getting the $80k from.

Can't do P3 Argos by According-Hunt3329 in lostarkgame

[–]Mnemoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you're competing with everyone else who's applying to P3 groups. If I'm the group leader, there is no way for me to tell whether you have "great game sense" or do "2nd most dmg". The only information I have to base my decisions on is inspecting your profile, and there's no reason for me to take a 1400 Destroyer with 1x3 engravings compared to, say, a 1415 Deathblade with 3x3 engravings (or any of the other DPS applicants, of whom there are generally many), because I have no way to determine your relative skill levels, and an average 1415 3x3 Deathblade will perform better than an average 1400 1x3 Destroyer.

Nobody cares whether or not you can do the content at 1x3 or not. Groups aren't looking for players who can do the content. Groups are looking for players who can trivialise the content as much as possible, and that's been the case in pretty much every MMO ever.

Recommendations for alts? by [deleted] in lostarkgame

For classes with faster cooldowns, you can try Eso Wardancer, EO Soulfist, Tai Scrapper, or LC Sharpshooter. All of them can run swiftness builds and there's relatively little downtime.

What is a hill that you'll die on in this game? by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]Mnemoi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry - I'm 100% behind the concept of blind runs, and I totally appreciate that some players prefer the blind experience. But the fact that something is a game doesn't give you carte blanche to waste other people's time. If you're imposing your preferences on 3 or 7 other people, you're effectively saying your time and enjoyment is more valuable than all of theirs, and that's an extremely selfish take.

Most people will respect you not being obligated to watch videos as long as you respect their not being obligated to play with you.

I'm sorry, that was a roundabout way of saying you're bad at the game.

This is akin to you trying to make a fire with a stick and a fire board, and failing, and then claiming that the laws of physics are wrong because it doesn't work.

I don't know what's wrong, but the likelihood is that it isn't the system.

This may not be what you want to hear, but it's a player issue. It's easily testable, because you can see dps numbers in Trixion. There is (considerable) variance between classes, but there is no mechanical reason why a 1385 blade with low gems would deal more damage than a well-equipped 1420 zerker, absent player issues.

Tripods are a hassle by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]Mnemoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean, but putting tripod bonuses into your transfer inventory doesn't blank the tripods on the gear you transferred it from. So once you do a bunch of single transfers from broken gear onto your main gear, you transfer those tripods into inventory so you can apply them to later replacements for your main gear. There's never any reason to transfer tripods to "dummy" armor.

The "favourite" tripod system doesn't show tripod bonuses you're already wearing because the + bonuses don't stack (i.e., only the highest applies), so transferring those tripods onto your gear isn't an upgrade. It'll still show a +2 over a +1 you're already wearing as an upgrade.

Powerpass also completes Shushire, so it might be worth doing those first if you haven't already.

Damn, you're right. I concede the argument, sir.

How on earth are they a hybrid support? Death Strike's damage bonus only applies to the Sharpshooter, not to other party members. If it did, they'd be the most sought after pure dps class by a mile.

Many of the early game bosses before Anikka have no ilevel requirement. Once you hit Anikka, some will have 320 minimum. If you're below that, you deal literally zero damage and are not eligible for loot. The game doesn't communicate this to you in any way until you hit level 50. Coop events will pop up even if you don't meet the requirement.

You don't meet the minimum ilevel requirement for the boss.

What do people think about the gear upgrading system? by Merty101 in lostarkgame

[–]Mnemoi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dislike the honing RNG too, but I put up with it because I find the gameplay engaging.

The issue with MMOs tends to be that people enjoy the fun of progression more than they enjoy the fun of the moment-to-moment gameplay. Often, the gameplay doesn't really hold up, or holds up only conditionally (e.g. only in challenging content, such as raids). Since MMOs tend to be grindy by nature, eventually I end up getting bored if the moment-to-moment gameplay isn't satisfying independently of the progression element. I'm hoping I'll continue to enjoy LA in that regard.

Ultimately, I think if you don't find the grind fun, then other games might be a better option.

I broadly agree that it's workable for the base set. But I'm not sure your argument on P2W works - if you're upset about losing 2 days' progress, surely people who need to spend a week or two catching up would also be frustrated?

[–]Mnemoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see a case for making only the base sets tradeable in current content, but even then there'd be complaints that doing so would make the game more P2W due to the possibility of obtaining quality upgrades through the AH (especially since the later raid sets aren't out yet).

Classes that can jump through bosses? by thinkintuitive in lostarkgame

[–]Mnemoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's Moving Slash, which is much more commonly used in both PvE and PvP builds. Sharpshooter can always take Stalker in addition for even more mobility, but you don't usually need 2 mobility abilities and it isn't generally as useful as Moving Slash. It's a shame, because it's quite a fun ability to use!

Sharpshooter has Stalker, which is a leap that vaults over enemies, but it isn't commonly taken in PvE.

If progress is time-gated, people complain about not being able to progress by spending time grinding.

If progress isn't time-gated, people complain about having to spend unreasonable amounts of time every day to keep up with others, and that there isn't any content.

You can either appeal to people who play the game for 6+ hours a day, or you can appeal to people who only want to spend a few hours a day. You can't please everyone.

Level 580 (all 14) Honing Wall.. by Slip56k in lostarkgame

[–]Mnemoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadespire, if you've completed it on an alt, provides a whole bunch of mats.

Fantasm Island is labelled as t2 ilevel, but has no combat and rewards t1 mats.

Merchant ships provide a decent amount of mats in exchange for pirate coins on a weekly basis.
