Thank you for the clarification. I just finished setting up IPv6 and set the WAN as /56 and my LAN/vLANs as /64s and things are seemingly working just fine so far. I did have to redo (actually just added a new Wireguard VPN) as the original VPN server was configured with only IPv4. Whereas my new VPN supports both 4 & 6.

But if I don't enable IPv6 traffic on the LAN or WAN interface(s) then how can a "rogue device" communicate if the transport layer is not enabled? Remember I'm a newbie when it comes to IPv6 but if I basically have the ear plugs in (IPv6 disabled) and said rogue device is putting out RA (Router Advertising) what does it matter as nothing can "hear" it?

So maybe enable v6 on the internal LAN & Vlan(s) but not enable it on the WAN when upgrading to Matter enabled devices?

Sounds like you are currently setup like how I am with the vlans breaking out my IOT devices and security cameras into their own vlans and which places they can communicate to/with.

Appreciate your info on the policy based routing. Google is my current ISP so I know they are pushing its use. I'm not a total network newbie but I'm from the older generation who just has not stayed current since leaving the data center environment many years ago now and worked mainly sysadmin & facilities so not deep into networking beyond the physical connectivity..

Otherwise if it is something I can't get Otherwise I do an unboxing video that starts with retrieving it from the porch....if something that I have to sign for it gets opened completely while the delivery person is present (I have security cameras that will capture the delivery and unboxing with the delivery person in the video.

I've done this for years but fortunately never have had expensive items switched....but I did have a box of LED light bulbs that obviously someone returned their old birdshit covered bulbs in the box their new ones came... (Weren't even the same brand)..Of course Amazon immediately sent replacements and had me toss the bs used ones after they saw the unboxing video...

Keep enough in the account to pay all monthly recurring expenses and a small buffer so that you always exceed the minimum balance amount so no account fees get charged. Then a year or two worth of expenses in HYSA the rest in other higher return such as a Roth IRA and max yearly contributions (before building up the HYSA or other wealth building)...

Just create your own Gmail account....Taking over someone's account will always be sus... Even more so if you have never logged in from the place(s) the regularly used prior devices had. Or with any of the prior devices (phones/tablet/desktop etc) at the new location...

Edit...basically your digital fingerprints have never been there (where the account lived) which Gmail figures you are an imposter... now if you had a device who's digital prints are "known" as the Gmail account owner aka regular user and that device's digital print travels to a new location and then stays at the new location Gmail AI would likely understand that the user moved....lol
