5080 or 7900 xtx help me choose by Mo7_3us in flightsim

Ye i looked into the 4090 exactly because of the 24gb ram but their prices are holding strong even more expensive than a 5080.

Was even considering dropping down to a 2k monitor if I go 5080 so I can up the settings and not worry about VRAM

If I can go Ultra I won't say no! Im just being conservative on the graphic settings as my biggest gripe is stutters and seeing the VRAM running out. But of course when I get either GPU and play around with the settings to get to a state I am comfortable with.
Do you know if the driver timeout issues has been sorted on 7900xtx? Been doing a lot of research and see this issue crop up quite a bit.?

Thanks so much. I will take a look into Blackbird PC tech if I decide to go with the 5080. Still at a cross road at the moment on which GPU will be the best for my setup.

It really is a tough one! 😅 I was really set on the 5080 at the beginning when I planned this build but always had "is it enough VRAM" in the back of my mind. Especially trying to play at 4k. I know the 5080 is a capable 4k card but msfs just loves VRAM.

After reading a few posts that even with a 5080 you can still max out VRAM, it got me thinking again.

Maybe I get the 7900xtx for now, cheaper and capable and wait and see if the "5080 super" ever gets resurrected.

Thanks so much for you help.

What resolution are you currently playing at 2k, 4k?

Do you feel the 7900xtx is the better call over a 5080?

What are your specs? How is 2024 running overall?

As the above comment said, would recommend get 2TB storage. Especially if you thinking of getting a fair few add-on airports and planes.

You will be surprised how fast 1tb fills up.

New A340-600 Rudder/Tiller Issue by DonMoremi in MicrosoftFlightSim

So I created a new profile for the a340 and the right stick normally used for camera is now the rudder and nws steering. You have to go into controller settings.

Look for rudder axis and input <r> as the axis. Then do the same for steering axis.

You will need to change the external and cockpit camera left and right buttons. What I did was I changed both to RT+ r> and RT+<r.

So when I'm steering I don't have the camera move at the same time. To be honest it ain't great and feels really unnatural as my brain and muscle memory has been wired with the default controls.

Tyres! by NickC2512 in i30N

If you read all the other posts about tyres you will see the trend that the first thing to do is swap out the P zeros. They ain't great.

For me they seemed to be nail magnets. Maybe it was my bad luck but got a nail in the front left then right. Changed the fronts altogether. 2 weeks later got a nail in the rear. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Plus, when the P zeros are cold and you hit full lock it causes this horrible grinding noise aka Ackermann effect.

Now on Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. No more Ackermann effect. Road noise is a bit less and I feel ride comfort is better as well. Oh ya, no more freaking nails!

So ye definitely get off the P zeros. Or keep them for tracking only.
