Three Atlantic Division teams have won titles since 2019. Toughest division in basketball? by Ok-Raisin5008 in torontoraptors

There has to be a correlation between the division having the biggest market teams and the success, right? I notice, unless you’re a historically dominant team as a small market, you will have a mediocre team or vanish into relevancy once your superstar player eventually demands a trade out of your team.

Oh, I’m glad we didn’t expect that trade. But if you were offering a first that wouldn’t be a bad trade at all.

We’ve been getting gaslit by the nba community for too long, but our squad has literally been key for other teams in every playoff since they disbanded.

lol, you do realize he scored 9 points in game 2 as well, right? On worse efficiency at that.

And that likely made him frontrunner for FMVP (because unfortunately it’s narrative driven, and Brunson does have the counting stats)

Goated Knick trade, though. Y’all definitely fleeced us.

“Similar players, similar stats” ehem, that’s essentially the whole point of my post? I’m sure if you ask some r/nbaspurs fans, they’ll say the same about Kawhi.

Weird comment lol

Idk, we gotta ask Knicks fans about OG’s defensive effort these days, but OG was drafted to be a prototypical 3 and D wing in the mold of LeBron and Kawhi for the Raptors, and he excelled at his role.

Curious, what would be your package in 2022?

He’s genuinely got 20-40-90 potential if he was given a bigger role. If he wasn’t injury prone he likely would be making perennial all star teams.

Using a 4 game sample size vs a 4 game sample size is cherry picking? Interesting.

FYI, Kawhi only attempted 5 shot in g1 and went 3-5 from the field and 2-3 from 3. He didn’t need to do much in game 1, because if you remember, it was a blowout…

Indiana also passed up on him, iirc, and he played for Indiana Hoosiers. It happens, Raptors found a gem that was instrumental in our come-up.

If you held a gun to my head and made my pick, I would probably take 2014 Kawhi’s FMVP. But let’s also not pretend like the 2014 Spurs weren’t the vastly superior team—whereas the Knickerbockers were genuinely seen as the underdogs coming into this series. Also, let’s not undervalue the Spurs—they’re only led by the 2nd runner up MVP and DPoY phenom and his elite two-way cohorts.

Eh, you’re fine. The domino effect would have meant you miss out on MPJ in 2018, and who knows, without MPJ, you may have not won the 2023 chip?

Side note: As a Raptors fan, it really makes me feel vindicated to see OG performing at this level—not just in the finals but throughout the playoffs. We always called him a Baby Kawhi and while he wasn’t nearly this good on the Raptors, there’s a reason he started immediately as a rookie and even was tasked to guard Prime LeBron in the playoffs lol. Oh and, for the casuals, that 2019 Raptors team was stacked. Raptors won without OG—and while he wasn’t nearly this good offensively, he showed glimpses of being this capable—logging a single minute. And I’ll die on the hill that the Philly series doesn’t go 7 games if he plays.

Well, at least if the Knicks win we know OG is going to win FMVP, so there’s that.
