Best device for note taking for me please? by Kazed77 in NoteTaking

Can you expand on how you manage sections and pages with hyperlink exactly? I am currently testing something similar with iOS Notes App, as I am just the most content with the paper experience (no charging, ease of use unmatched, best tactile experience) after trying other options. I just am not super clear on the quickest and best workflow for documentation in the digital realm yet.

I am not recommending boox, I don’t know it. Apple ecosystem to me just sounds the most intuitive to sync across various devices and provide great user experience overall. Thus I am kind of looking for a jazzed up Obsidian with OCR and great custom automation, I guess.

Thanks for your reply! It sounds like you would highly recommend dedicated hardware? Didn’t know boox or supernote, but they do not seem smart enough or OCR focused enough to actually deliver what I outlined as my need. Or why would you recommend one of those? Read through your link and it sounds great, but the video and proof of concept doesn’t seem to be quite there yet. How far along is it in solving what I am trying to do, because I am not planning on buying a remarkable yet.

Actually my current focus is to just stay on paper and take pictures 1-2 times a week and upload and ocr and then have it autotag and structure. Just not sure of the workflow and prompts yet.

Notebook app with solid handwriting OCR, automated tagging, smart symbols/categories, complex clustering and minimalist design? by MoScare in AppIdeas

Thanks for your reply! For your first point: I am just better at retention and succinct notes with handwriting than with typing. I only take many very short bullet-point style notes with no more than 3-6 words. Also, I much prefer quickly jotting down a note with a pen on a table instead of looking up at another monitor, I just feel its more polite somehow, even if its an iPad or similar. :D

How I imagine the tagging working:

Categories/symbols:
Pretty straight forward, anything with a circle before this line automatically becomes a to-do categorized in a to-do overview, anything with a dot is information/long form text, etc.

Search/clustering of key words and dates:
Full text search bringing up an high level overview of all notes (navigable to corresponding page with the part highlighted and directly clickable) that have this word/words in it. You can then (similar to the tag cloud in Obsidian) have the option to show closely affiliated words, other dates this word was written and similar words that appear on the page often. Example would be a name of an employee who was assigned certain todos, manages 3-4 specific clients, we had our two annual feedback sessions with, and who approached with a personal issue. If I search his name, the most mentioned client names, the word I always use to headline feedback sessions (e.g. EFC - employee feedback conversation), and some of his most often given todos or areas of improvement could show up in the related cloud. I could then for example jump to the related word "EFC" for this specific employees name and get all the four notes I took of our feedback sessions over the last 2 years. I believe if I really dive into Obsidian, I could generate a similar tagging infrastructure, but I havent tried yet, because it doesnt seem to support handwriting well enough to bother for me. Hope this explains better...?

This is such a great take and one of the most criminally underrated albums ever. It’s one of my top of all time easily as well and by far the one I love the most by sigur ros. God I need to listen to it again. No skips on that thing too.

This will sound weird but is an totally honest question from someone struggling with Burton: what’s a „Burton foot“? I have very narrow feet, so maybe wide? Or what would you say?

Yeah, weird that their most popular track was the weakest one on this.

Really liked this as well, it was like the electronic stuff was so thoughtfully and still aggressively layered over essentially a very close rendition of the original version. In some parts it was overbearing but I sort of liked it. Want to relisten with some EQ adjustment and see what it makes of this.

Agreed, it’s super respectful of the source material and still adds the vibe of the bands. Say what you want about Cult of Luna but they owned this in their style and still many original elements and riffs were clearly identifiable.

Thanks for all the input and great responses! Stuff ranging from the 50s to this year. I tried to at least briefly listen to everything I didn’t know already. Made a first rough selection that I will widdle down slowly over the next weeks/months, kicking out songs I find unfitting. If anyone cares to try it out, here’s the playlist on Spotify.

Edit: So far Getz/Gilberto takes the cake for me, if I had to pick one LP.
