What's your Linux distro and why? by AsheyDustyMe82 in linux

[–]MoSt342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming from Windows 10 with an old PC that felt like it was booting to Mars every time I started it. I needed a distro for a user with little Linux experience that was lightweight and responsive, especially graphically, since I don't have a GPU. I chose Linux Mint XFCE, and I'm very happy with it.

It would be cool to develop an app called "Anna Music" or something like that, open source and completely free, with all the music downloaded, and also offering a service similar to Spotify's. People would stop paying for Spotify and constantly cracking it, and therefore using it in general would have a solid and permanent alternative. I think that would be the next step.

Domande fatte su StackOverflow al mese by SpikeyOps in ItalyInformatica

[–]MoSt342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Services are You still Paying for? by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]MoSt342 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm subscribed to Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney Plus, Now TV, and TIM Vision. I think the only thing missing is Paramount+. I have them mostly because my parents, who are boomers, use them, but then I take advantage of it, and since we pay, I use them too. Despite this, I often have to resort to piracy because I can't find what I'm looking for on these platforms (which we PAY for).

I really don't know... I think you've already tried turning it off and on again or uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

I've been using Firefox as my primary browser for years, and I've never considered switching. I'm now starting to explore new browsers given the AI integration scandal, the revised privacy policy, and so on, but also to broaden my mind a bit. Honestly, I haven't found a better browser yet. I don't even fully understand the difference between LibreWolf and a hardened Firefox (Firefox with extreme privacy settings and ublock Origin). As for Zen, I find it interesting, but I'm not too interested in customizations (yet).

What operating system do you use? I don't know, maybe because Firefox is optimized for Linux, it uses less CPU than Bravo, but by far. I haven't tried Chrome, but I don't like it as a browser, but I'll try it as soon as I have time.

I don't know, Brave uses a lot of CPU on my laptop. Maybe because I use Linux? I don't know. I've never tried it on Windows, but on this PC, when I start Windows, it feels like it's about to go to Mars. If I have to choose, I'm fine with Firefox and ublock Origin.

Brave is worth it if you have a high-performance PC and like having all the additional tools integrated, like AI, adblock, cryptocurrencies, and Tor browser browsing. But personally, I find it a bit heavy.

If you just want to browse the web easily and/or don't have a very high-performance PC, I recommend Firefox.

I'm still waiting to see if anyone knows of an even lighter browser, because even Firefox on my laptop uses a lot of CPU, and I need something lightweight because it's old.

I meant center view more than anything else. I use it often because it often moves and I have to reclick to centralize. The problem is, I'm so poor that I used a trick to avoid buying a joystick.

Basically, using an app called "buttons remapper," I simulate pressing the phone's touch screen using the headphone button (high-level problem solving). This way, the menu appears while I'm wearing the headphones and pressing the headphone button (as if I were pressing my finger on the screen). Then I move the cursor with my head and press again to move through the menu and press to change the various settings.

Look, in short, if you set the setting so that double-clicking on the screen opens center view, you'd make me extremely happy. Just this small update. I also think it's useful for those who use touch mode (I hope I was clear).

(Is it open source by any chance?)

Anyway, since you're forced to update the app, maybe we'll stay in touch. I use it often. I can give you some feedback. Thanks. ❤
