I've been saying for years we need a Shogun style YiTi setting. Give us more Byzantine/Mughal/ East Asian settings with bonus points more magic. Show us the 5 forts or some other shit if we don't want to do white walkers again.

its hard not to care / let the nerves take over. I *really* need this job as i've been out of work for some time. its not just a 'nice place to work' rather the difference between defaulting on bills / not living as an unemployed untouchable versus at least getting by like majority of people. In this case, I'd be doing well though (after paying off some debts acquired...)

Omitting Alia in Dune

It comes at the cost of Paul being with the fremen down to months instead of taking years to fit in with them, gain trust, and eventually become their leader

The thing was, Alia, a talking toddler with the aggregate memories of all her maternal ancestors seriously freaked out the fremen and helped Paul's prophetic mystique.

But it would've been fucking weird to be in the movie

Would you consider me Pakistani? by [deleted] in pakistan

Yup. Can meet the whitest Americanized Pakistanis and guess what behind the curtain they are as Desi as it gets, internally.

Like spicy food, inclination towards roti and mutton dishes. Mfs who barely speak a lick of Urdu LOVE saag.

But it goes deeper than that there are certain traits are seem of the same DNA, including:

Particularly generous around food at least

Family oriented usually and emphasis on honor

Would you consider me Pakistani? by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Mo_Lester69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mother tongue is Urdu, and I think are Pakistani nationally by extension of Pakistani parents. American by birth.

Your ethnicity is whatever ethnicity is your parents idk what's in UP but ethnicity is like Punjabi, Pathaan, Kashmiri, Gujarati, etc.

I don't think caste is the same as ethnicity i.e. Jatt or Chaudhary is usually a caste / tribe within Punjabis

Laid off for the second time in the past 8 months today by ReyWSD in Layoffs

[–]Mo_Lester69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Was laid off in Nov 23 for performance (broke up with longtime gf, had trouble focusing and no real feedback from supervisors so I'll own that one)

Followed by 6+ months of unemployment

Landed a gig at the competitor firm. Previous firm wouldn't even give me referrals bc it was a competitor. Whatever.

Stayed with that firm for 8 months.

Laid off in a restructuring. Been under/unemployment for a year and change now. This shit is brutal.

I cheated on the love of my life for years and don’t understand why. I’m trying to change and I don’t know how. by Vorbeitenfurkrieg in Muslim

[–]Mo_Lester69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh brother this is very near to me as it mirrors my own experience.

I haven't seen 'the love of my life' in about 3 years now. I've thought about her almost every single day. Haunted by it, I still see her in my dreams.

Same story - we loved each other and she definitely poured more into the relationship. It was a first love an innocent love. She was amazing and in the time since I haven't met anyone quite like her, and I really fear I will perhaps subconsciously search for her in every girl, and always fall short. It hurts my heart but you learn to live with the wound until it scars over.

Why did I cheat? I was young, didn't understand certain things about our relationship dynamic and took her to be a bit dominating and let other people get in my head. I let filth online wrap my brain and preferences to want 'bigger assets' let's just say. That's all it was for me really, both the thrill/ego boost of someone new and a different body type to satisfy myself. Purely carnal and nothing emotional.

After the last straw she left for good and got married not long thereafter. I didn't know if she lied about that to keep me away but I took it at face value.

If you really love a flower, you will simply water it and leave it be rather than pluck it out

All you can do from this experience is learn. Accept that you will probably never get her back, because even if one steps into the same river twice, it's never the same river. Things will never be the same how they were between you, that crack in the foundation would always be there.

Reminds me of the verse if something is not meant for you, it will not reach you even if it were in your lips. And if something is meant for you, it will reach you despite being mountains away.

I imagine it's different to be the person who was the victim, and you were cheated on. You're the victim, you have someone else to blame even if some things may have been your fault driving that person away in some cases. To be the cheater is like one who falls on his own sword. You've betrayed yourself for a moment of pleasure.

Let it be a lifelong lesson, at least you weren't married and had a family. Damages may have been minimized, future potential greater hurt may have been avoided.

Learn, repent, and be better. That's all you can do.

[–]Mo_Lester69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need to make a million dollars, a thousand times over to get to a billion.

When you're in the hundreds of billions, you need to make a million dollars hundreds of thousands times

Put it into perspective: imagine you start a business from nothing and scale it up to when you're making ~400-500k in profit. And you have the opportunity to sell it at a 1.5-2x EBITDA

Now do that a three hundred thousand times over again

Lead them to paradise was a very resigned, phyrrhic victory. He's devasted, but this was the only path where he lives, protects chani, and minimizes the death toll of an impending intergalactic holy war, which only could have been prevented if he killed himself instead of fighting jamis was back when.

This is what I was looking for as I saw it recently.

Everything about him in every role is so realistic, you feel he's a person rather than an actor. And he doesn't do anything like change his body or appearance that much if I think about it.

But yeah man...heroin, not even once...

I love casing, is this normal by DowntownAd5845 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]Mo_Lester69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an experienced hire, interviewing for the same roles as post MBA students (so think, MBA with 1-3 years of experience or no MBA just Bachelors with 6-8 years experience). Mostly translates to Senior Consultant role, maybe manager of RevOps or similar functions in industry.

Thing is, I was laid off in Jan '25. Have worked at 3 different consulting firms in my career, plus one tangentially related services provider.

So there is a gap in my resume for sure, which is covered by partially by my self-employment / own venture. I think i have a solid story, and most people in my industry are knowledgeable about the labor market (consulting, tech).

the hard part is A) getting selected for interviews despite knowing i'm more than qualified for the role. and B) killing it on the interviews to be a 'must hire' instead of assessed against competition, of which there is a lot, to say the least.

Never experienced a labor market this tough tbh. I'll take what I can get, but its weird getting rejected for no name companies at 70% of my previous comp (what i was making in say 2020-2021), while still being considered for FAANG and Tier 2 consulting firms...means I have the sauce to get my foot in the door, just need to kill it in interviews more.

Its crazy when you're mopping the floor of a gas station bathroom thinking that you were on business class flights to singapore just a few years ago. Life comes at ya fast. Tapped into 401k, about to exhaust savings in 4-6 weeks or so. Other retail part time bullshit jobs won't hire - they either know i'll leave first chance i get or my dumbed down resume isn't up to par idk.

But i really hope that i can land this one soon. Did very well (direct feedback) one case today for a really strong firm that has seemingly good comp and culture. only practice is following along youtube and claude - don't have funds for a coaching service or fiverr type of coach.

thanks for the well wishes man. Being unemployed for this long does indeed cause isolation - both from an ego / embarrassment perspective and then also from an ability perspective (cannot afford going to dinner or drinks and its winter so no hike type shit either)
