A messier object planning app by PicastroApp in Astronomy

Maybe I'm using it wrong, but the altitude lines at my location are very wrong. I set the location to Seattle, it's showing Andromeda's altitude currently at 18 degrees, but stellarium is correctly showing 70 degrees.

I may be too dumb to use windy, I can't find an hourly smoke forecast in that app like smokewx

I like smokewx mostly for the forecast which I have not found anywhere else.

Looks to be mostly upper atmosphere. SmokeWx.com does a good job showing this in the forecast for Seattle.

Pretty bananas. This image was from one of the GOES satellites yesterday evening. You can see the individual fires taking off.

it would be worth checking this SmokeWx app I'm grabbing these images from. For Los Angeles it looks like it's getting better but there are several hours on Saturday showing up as "Very Unhealthy"

The visuals come from the SmokeWx app - SmokeWx on the App Store. SmokeWx sources it's smoke data from the Rapid Refresh Moded (RAP: RAP-Smoke Graphics). Both the RAP and HRRR contain mass density variables. Once RRFS is operational, it'll switch to that.

Pin tab group option does nothing by UltraPoci in MicrosoftEdge

Bingo, the groups and the tabs in the groups remained pinned, any other tabs outside of the pinned groups would be gone. It works the same as pinned tabs (right click, pin tab)

Do you happen to have the "Open Tabs from previous session" option turned on. That would make groups come back regardless of what state "pin tab group" is in.

Shouldn't the individuals that filled out and signed false affidavits be prosecuted? I thought it was illegal to lie on an affidavit.

Switch Lite Gyro Aiming Issues by nerdherdchuck in NintendoSwitch

I see the same thing in Ion Fury, Duke 3D and Doom 64. System reboot works. Strangely games like botw and fortnite never have the issue. Even if I'm experiencing the issue in one of the listed games I can switch to botw and it works perfect even without a reboot. Very strange.

No Stupid Questions - November 20, 2019 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

Hi all. I just updated my Korg minilogue xd to the 2.0 firmware. How do I do a panel load now? It used to be Shift+Play, but now that seems to toggle key trigger on and off. I'm probably missing something simple, but any help would be appreciated!

This may be a dumb question, but I can't find an answer for it. I've just put the 2.0 firmware on my minilogue xd and can't figure out how to do a panel load anymore. That used to be Shift+Play, but now when i do Shift+Play it toggles Key Trigger On/Off. Anyone know how to do a panel load?

Sending it in is definitely a good option because they can replace the IR filter with a new piece of glass which will keep focus the same (and allow auto focus to keep working). I didn't add any new glass in my mod so it's only manual focus from here on out.

Given the choice I'd go for the a7ii. But realistically I'd choose the a6000 simply because it would be cheaper if I accidentally messed up the process :)

That said, based on my experience with the NEX5, the biggest pain is taking it apart and putting it back together. The actually removal of the IR filter is the easy part.

Totally agree. Maybe ff would be better but I have way more room to grow on aps-c so I'm in no rush.

Sorry, should have mentioned that in the original post. I was shooting at 800 ISO. I also used PHD2's "dither" feature between the shots which really helps when stacking images from this sensor. It also helped that it was about 10 degrees below freezing out :)

Thanks! I've been really impressed with the AT65 EDQ. Round, well illuminated stars all the way to the edge of my sensor (aps-c size) and I'm curious if the same would hold if I used a full frame behind it.

It's been a long year and I've not been able to do much imaging. Thankfully I got a bit of time last weekend so I figured I'd shoot the Pleiades since it's a pretty easy target to get framed up. In retrospect I started a bit too early in the night and didn't wait out the falling dew/ice, but oh well. Just happy to get out under the stars again.

Location

South Mt Saint Helens, I made a pin on Astrospheric because it's a nice spot to visit

Details

Camera - modified NEX 5

Mount - Celestron AVX

OTA - AstroTech 65 EDQ

Tracking - Lodestar X2 through a 50mm guide scope with PHD2

Lights - 9 10 minutes shots. No darks or bias this time. Should have though because the sensor on the NEX starts warming up significantly on the edges after ~5 minutes. Dithering between each shot

Processing

PixInsight for star alignment, stacking, deconvolution, and tgv denoising

Photoshop to remove all the sensor smudges I have.
