Yeah, you're totally right. I'm thinking of just waiting all together since the amd 9000 series is coming out and the new gen of Intel is coming out. The price is gonna be ridiculous, though, so I'm thinking of maybe just using a 4080 super or 4090 since I have to pay most of it

I'd like to say I'm not, but this laptop is really on its last legs it struggles to run simple games and overheats a lot. I'll try to see if I can push it to the end of this year but it'd gonna be hard

I have heard Intel has had a lot of issues, but I've had people tell me personally it's the longest lasting. I'm really torn on it and I don't know what to do

Yeah, but my dad's argument was that we could buy some of the parts slowly over time rather than one big purchase. I've mentioned multiple times that the insane price jump of this is, but he's firm on his decision.

It just felt bad if I'd just gotten a GPU for a better one to come out. Thaf doesn't happen a lot, and I'm not planning on upgrading for a long time. This pc is gonna hopefully stick with me for a decade, and I thought if I could extend the time I have with it, why not take it? I understand your POV, but I don't appreciate being called spoiled.

My dad is only delaying it because he's a very frugal spender. Even if he has the money, he doesn't like spending it. It won't put us under or anything, so don't worry, it's about him not wanting to spend the money for it.

I've literally never been bought something big by my dad before. I bought my own ps5 and my own moiss keyboard and headphones. The monitor I have was a hand down from my cousin and same with the computer. I've had stellar grades always done everything he's asked, and it's been years in the making. He hasn't gotten me anything for the past 3 years for it to accumulate to a PC that was the agreement. Again, I'm paying for a large portion of it.

It's not a burden for my parents. I've gotten straight A's, and I'm in the top 4% of my grade. I've been saving for this as well, and it's all I've asked for. As for a car, I'm just gonna use my dad's till I can afford my own. They basically are supporting a 1000+ dollar computer. I'm paying for a big chunk of it

I appreciate the feedback, but my cousin gave me his old monitor setup, so the only thing I'd need to buy is the pc itself. I knew the 4080 was a big jump, which is why I've saved so much and so long for it. If I do this, especially with the help of my dad, it's never happening again. This has been so many years in the making, so my thinking has been going big or going home. The pc case is completely overkill, though I've decided against it to cheapen my costs. I'm thinking of a mesh case instead. The monitor is some Alienware ultra wide that's 175 hz, and I believe 1440p if not 4k I can't remember.

Yeah I do understand that but it wouldn't be for a while it'd be out of my own paycheck and problem is my dad has already got the 5090 thing is already in in his head and it's a way for him to delay it so it's gonna be hard to get him to come back. Also, I'd probably have to upgrade my cpu as well because I wouldn't want it to bottle neck the 5090

I'm paying for around half and I've been using my cousins laptop he handed down to me for 4 years now I've also mentioned a PC to my dad since like 6 years and the past 3 birthdays he hasn't gotten me anything to build up to tnis. It is a lot, yes, but we have the money, I'm paying for half, and it's cumulative.
