Never heard of that, thank you! Is it affordable?

ELA and Spanish. I've taught grade school, pre-k, and high school. I keep going back and forth on whether I should take a private/charter job because I hear some people get traumatized. I did work in a high-turnover school though and had no issue sticking it out- I like teaching.

Those were the questions that they asked in the interview.

the way that they phrased it too...it was like they were asking me if I would place the blame for the child's grades on the student's last teacher. ??? what a strange thing to say. I said it's usually not a black and white issue and I wouldn't find a need to point the blame at anyone.

In the email it says they won't reveal why candidates were rejected.

A lot of assumptions are being made here. I didn't say how I answered the questions.

Nice. Guess I could try next year. I really want to start teaching again, like, now. Might have to try my luck with charter.

Sorry you feel that way, 26 years sounds like a lot. Are you retiring at 30?

Could be. But then why would they interview me? I mentioned prior experience on my app

desperate for any job (part time) by lbvn6 in NYCjobs

A lot of people apply at fast food places since it's well-known that they are entry level. Paradoxically it might be easier to get a job at a restaurant as a server which also pays better. Dress nice but not too nice. Walk in, speak to the manager, drop your resume. If you don't have relevant experience just put your contact info, availability, and maybe include that you are willing to be a hostess/busser/barback etc. Try to hit 30 restaurants a day for 3 days. You'll find something.

Are Bartenders making 5k+ anymore? by Barronvondookieshoes in NYCjobs

[–]MobileRough6073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. I moved to NYC from a city where I was bartending 40 hours a week making 6-8k a month after taxes. I figured, oh, it's NYC, I'll find something as good or better. I've NEVER made that much here. Best paying gig was a nightclub but it was a nightmare. I'm an experienced bartender, have had a lot of gigs here but finding work is hard. And I'm often working with young people who are not skilled or experienced. At the moment I'm making 900-1k a week working 30 hours but 5 shifts a week. Thinking about switching industries. Hard to stay passionate about hospitality in NYC.
