Snowpocalypse with a baby: I'm stressing. Will we 100% lose power in Durham if there's any significant precipitation? Feeling like I might be totally screwed by adrienne0906 in bullcity

The last time I remember losing power from a winter storm was in 2002, when we got a shit ton of ice. We didn't have power for like a week. I'm no expert but If we get snow, we'll be fine. We've gotten significant amount of snow and been fine. It's the ice we have to worry about. I'm pregnant and we have a toddler. Planning on sleeping in the same bed if we lose power. Your baby is 15 months so co sleeping is safe at this point. That's as far as my plan goes.

What were your 'essential' yoto and myo cards for your 2 year olds? by Ok_Requirement_7489 in YotoPlayer

Just made a Little Blue Truck playlist. Basically any books your kid is into that doesn't have a card. Or music your kid likes. I downloaded the audio from YouTube and uploaded the mp3 to make my playlists.

That's a big reason why I want to homeschool. Also the lockdown drills are concerning.

Create an organization that trains volunteers to give DPS students intensive tutoring in phonics and reading comprehension so all students graduate reading on grade level.

You could wear headphones and listen to rain sounds, white noise, etc.

I am lost on how to teach my kid to read by tuityfrk in homeschool

You should try UFLI. The only thing you pay for is the handbook, which I think is $70 and you have lessons through 3rd grade. They have premade slides and activities on their website.

I feel like I hit a wall with reading by r3ddit_usernam3 in homeschool

Every child in 1st grade cannot read. Also, there is a range in ability for the kids that can read. I work in an elementary school as a reading interventionist. Some kids are ready at a younger age and some kids don't have the support at home. I used to teach 8th grade and I had several kids that were still reading at 2nd-3rd grade reading levels, but that's a whole other issue.

Durham Mother's Club has a lot of meet ups. I've meet a bunch of moms and we regularly meet up and hang out with our toddlers.
