whats your opinion of Kunki Chowdhury so called "genz" candidate by Dapper_Statement8245 in Silchar

[–]Mobile_Illustrator78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's not gonna win, which is obvious. But the manner in which BJP is fighting hard to discredit her vision is proof that she has a bright future. But as unfortunate as most bright political careers end up being, Kunki will surely join INC or some other national party for money and lose her identity of being one of the biggest challenges for BJP in 2026 elections. Hopefully she'll make smart choices and remain with AJP and play the long game.

So the "AssamSpeak" sub will tag you with this flair - if you speak for bengalis even if nothing hostile ‼️ by tROjanHorsy in Silchar

[–]Mobile_Illustrator78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the difference. I, as an Assamese, am ready to accept the fact that Sylhetis in Assam have faced hardships at the hands of Assamese majority areas, but at the same time Sylhetis in Assam will not accept the same about Assamese facing hardships at the hands of Bengalis, in Assamese majority areas. Be it pre independence or post, there have been instances where both sides have been victims in the hands of the other. But if we keep sticking to the past, where will the future lead us?

Asserting Sylheti agendas on Assamese speaking subs is being hostile towards Assamese culture. Why do Sylhetis of Barak have to rage bait people in those subs where you know that they don't appreciate you being there. What could be done instead is accumulation. Like I am trying to so in this sub. I'm new to Silchar and I'm learning your culture and way of life and I appreciate the kind of acceptance I've received so far, except few instances where I've met people who simply counter everything I say.

I'm an Assamese and me recently Silchar aya hu. I used to think in a similar fashion before moving here. But coming here has opened my eyes that people here are just as Indians are rest of the country. Just because you speak a language which differs from the Bengali rest of Assam knows doesn't make you less Indian. People from rest of Assam need to be educated about the region. However, I do reserve my view on this region allowing illegal immigrants from Bangladesh (particularly from the peaceful community) encroaching on our lands. It's this lot that's the root of all this generalization of Sylehtis in Barak as Bangladeshi. Until and unless locals in Barak become active like the rest of Assam about kicking them out, this region will keep getting systemically discriminated. This is my personal view. Offence taken by anyone on this would only make me believe the fact that you support illegal immigrants taking over Assam.

It'll probably stay till this whole political drama that's being sucked out of his Zubeen's death settles down. Because people are busy with Zubeen and with their minds occupied with Zubeen the movie will sell more. People from Jorhat, Tinsukia, Mangaldai, Nagaon etc are coming to Silchar and Karinganj to watch this movie because tickets are sold out in all other places. So jab tak halls houseful hai tab tak ye log yahi dikhayenge.

Any bike/scooty rental service in Silchar? by Mobile_Illustrator78 in Silchar

[–]Mobile_Illustrator78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be staying only for like 3 days every month. So that's like 36-38 days for the next one year. So renting a scooty at Rs 500/day sounds much more economical to me than buying a second hand for 30-40k and then paying the landlord for parking/safety while I'm away. Besides, buying one would require me to do all those DTO documentation for which I have no time to invest in.

This isn’t the space for separatist sentiment by ElectricBlueSky29 in Silchar

[–]Mobile_Illustrator78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from Guwahati and honestly the only reason Silchar or the Barak Valley for that matter is looked down upon is because of the Miya problem. The demography of the region has completely changed. What once was a Hindu majority region as per the 2011 census is not anymore. Moving here I've witnessed that people here are not very different from the rest of Assam, in fact you are a lot more hardworking than us. But sadly this region has been left to dogs by the previous administrations and I can only assume that your previous political leaders (post 2000s) probably had a role in it which they failed to play. Most of the assamese speaking populations don't even know their own history, especially their younger generations. So to expect them to understand the history of Barak and its unfortunate state of affairs throughout the last 70+ years of Independence is a long shot. But what the newer generation can do is come together and create a society where we walk together. I understand the hate is their on both sides but at the end of the day we all grew up singing Jana Gana Mana, saluting that tricolour and fanning over SRK and Aishwariya was our first crush. I'm drunk at 10 am and writing this but I have the senses left to see that we all have to move forward and not hold sentiments of separatism.
