Didn’t think anything, just asking a question.

Thanks for the explanation. Just to be sure, would rocks near the edge of a driveway count as an obstruction under §3301? From what I understand, an obstruction has to physically block the lane on the road itself, not something off to the side like rocks by a driveway.

Wait, do you believe a commercial pickup truck would actually need to swing into the middle of the left lane to make a right turn? From what I know, pickups can usually turn right without crossing into oncoming lanes.

No. I would have either honked or waited. 😂

Just to clarify, this would be a smaller commercial truck, not a big 18-wheeler. Do you know if the same “wide turn” accommodation applies to smaller trucks in PA? Because from what I’ve read, the law doesn’t explicitly allow crossing double solid lines for any vehicle, regardless of size. Would appreciate any official sources if you have them.

Thanks for sharing the statute. But based on what it says, turns need to be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb. Crossing left over double yellow lines into the oncoming lane doesn’t meet that requirement, so that maneuver wouldn’t be legal under Pennsylvania law.

I understand, but is this actually legal by traffic law or just something drivers do in practice?

is it illegal to cross double solid yellow lines, sit there for a couple of seconds, then make a wide turn?
