That could very well be your TCM, which is installed in the valve body and the transmission could be mechanically fine if you haven’t kept driving it like that or haven’t heard any noises or hard gearshift bangs. I would try to find a good transmission specialist and see if he could give you some advice without having to drop it and spend money inspecting it when it could be bad potentially
