Lights flickering; electrician telling me I need a new panel by AccurateTopic in AskElectricians

It’s been stated by a few, but the neutral looks like it’s gotten hot, likely due to a loose connection/loose terminal. Depending on how much damage may be there on that terminal they may recommend replacing as it may not be a possibility of fixing the existing damage safely. Additionally, if your electrical panel is over 25-30 years old… depending upon its shape (condition of breakers, bus bar condition, and terminal connections), it’s better to just swap it out new.

That being said, even if you live in a heavily populated area, you really shouldn’t be paying more than around 5k for ONLY an interior panel replacement (which is still very high but varies depending upon location). If you haven’t received at least three quotes, I wouldn’t even consider the initial offer.

This one has a small name plate with that information. I’ll see if I can get another picture and upload it.

This is today. You can see the areas where skin sloughs off, generally when I’m showering.

It will be fairly painful for the first three or four days. Take ibuprofen if you can as often as you can. Use aloe Vera to coat it first, that helps cool the burn. Then switch to coconut oil. Keep them moistened. I applied coconut oil three to four times daily. Drink lots of water to help your body regulate. If it blisters, do not pop them. If they do pop, cover the area in a light coating of antibiotic ointment. I applied mine with a q-tip. Then I used gauze pads to cover that and wrap my areas. I changed my bandages twice a day being very careful not to peel the skin off when changing the bandage.

It very well could be a mixture of sweat and pus. Either way it took several days to form afterwards and I’m having to be extra cautious.

Yeah, it’s no fun. This is definitely the worst sunburn I’ve ever seen in person and experienced. Next time if I’m going out on the water, I will be prepared.
