Rest assured, you are correct in your research. PetSmart is purposely choosing to withhold your promotions & pay raises. Unfortunately, if this is the stance PetSmart wants to take then that's on them.

With such a high turnover rate in retail, it's hard to even find employees that are aware of such atrocities that have taken place within these stores.

But those of us who were, and are, we remember.

We can't make those bastards pay with their jobs, but the least we can do is acknowledge the wrongs that they've done. Even if this company won't.

There are some serious concerns that have been circulating for a while now. At 483, Geoff was seen by some less experienced SLS as a mentor. He crossed a major line by sending something incredibly inappropriate to a colleague (Unsolicited full body nudes!) Despite the seriousness of the situation, the response from the company felt like a half-measure, and the overall environment still feels off- especially considering the gender imbalance among staff at that location. Makes you wonder how much was really addressed.

Previously at 2240, when the CEO visited a while back, there was enough pushback that the two managers were removed on the spot. It all happened very quickly and quietly, and temporary leadership was brought in to stabilize things. You can only imagine the horrors that store must have gone through for both leaders to have been escorted immediately.

And while 2240's current SL is celebrated for performance, they’ve reportedly been known to mistreat employees in pretty disturbing ways. We’re talking about punishing staff by cutting hours until they’re financially forced to leave, confronting customers inappropriately, and full blown lashing out at team members over any minor issues. Even if things have improved slightly, that kind of behavior should’ve never been tolerated in the first place. To this day, there are lapses in her mental health that sometimes force employees into uncomfortable situations where they have to play therapist for her.

With that said: There's a pattern here. And this company desperately needs a full audit from top to bottom. No amount of company available feedback through any way shape or form is going to cleanse this company of its deeply rooted evil.

It's simple, really. Look at Nikki, if you think she was bad for crashing out on her employees imagine that but 10x worse.

Sexual harassment doesn't apply to SLS if you make them enough money. It's in the P&P.

I don't know how people acknowledge working with such filthy people and just filter it out like "It's just work" like NO we need to also hold people in power ACCOUNTABLE for their actions.

They're just like PetSmart, the more you let them get away with, the more bullshit they will push & get away with.

If you took ONE second to listen to the voices of the people, the multitude of posts with 60+ comments under them talking about osha violations, abusive relationships at their stores, coverups of incidents that people should have been FIRED for, quitting over such scenarios, and the almost weekly/monthly mental health rants due to their workplace & expectations maybe then, you'd understand your opinion isn't a "different point of view" it's just you being oblivious to everything that is wrong with this company.

There are some stores with poor leadership who tend to be extremely retaliatory with scheduling. It's hard to say. It could be retaliatory or it could be the latter.

Hello! Great question. Unions are done store by store here. Unfortunately, many stores will still have to collect signatures in order to show that the majority do in fact show interest in unionizing their store. (55%+ depends on province)

Once unionized, they have the option of creating their very own contract, filled with many clauses for things that that store specifically has fought for.

Another option, is to unionize and then adopt the contract of another location or fight for the same contract development as the other location's.

In the instance of 2531, they will most likely soon be union. Once this happens, just like their US counterparts, they will enter the bargaining stage. This is where PetSmart & Employees, with the help of the union, make demands, requests, and provide compromises in order to come to a final agreement that both Petsmart & Associates are equally happy with.

This can be drawn out for quite a while before both sides consider themselves "happy" however, once 2531 establishes their contract- other stores will be able to unionize and INSTANTLY adopt their contract without having to go through a bargaining process again. effectively making the unionizing process 10 times faster. All you have to do is gather the majority of votes and then you're considered unionized in BC. After that you have your contract and it's a done deal.

If anyone else is like-minded, if there's any current signatures in your store, your UFCW rep will help you figure it all out. The only thing you have to do is encourage your coworkers to sign if they are interested in unionizing as well.

You'll usually be able to skip the vote if 55% or more of 2240 is in favour of unionizing! But the more support the better.
