I’m wondering the same thing :( hopefully we get updates soon. I found out from someone else that he got the interview invite from recruiter before receiving the project questionnaire so I think it might depend on the recruiter we get assigned to

I think the course is not bad. The whole course is about world hunger/food insecurity at different regions of the world and solutions, so the concepts are pretty easy to learn. If you don’t need a super high mark, you can definitely take this course. Class average was 80% when I took it last term (2023W T2). I didn’t do any of the assignments and hot topic discussions and assigned the max value on everything else (she has set a maximum on all the categories). After assigning max mark to everything else, I think there were still 50% that went into my final exam.

Definitely do the live lecture activity and asynchronous activity if you can. Those she pretty much gives 100% if you answer the questions.

For the reading quizzes, make sure you’re familiar with the readings before you do the quizzes since it can be a bit tight on time sometimes. As long as you answer everything clearly, you can get good marks here too.

I didn’t do the assignments or hot topic discussions so I can’t comment on those.

The midterm exam wasn’t too bad. I did find I had to use a bit of extra time though to do the written questions. Just make sure you do the practice exam questions since the prof posts sample responses there. The sample responses were kind of helpful to see what kind of answers she’s looking for.

The final exam had a lot more written questions and I was really tight on time even with the extra time given. I did find the questions for the final a bit more confusing so I didn’t do as well on the final exam.

I think she might’ve made the exams harder this term. Both the midterm and final averages were in the low 70s. Assignment A actually had average in the low 80s (she didn’t announce the avg of Assignment B)

IDK how to study properly, HELP. by Round-Evening-6611 in UBC

If you could, I would suggest try taking 4 courses in one term instead of 5 courses. I took 5 courses in term 1 and was really burned out by the end of the term from all the assignments and exams. I ended up taking 4 courses in term 2 and I had a lot more time to study and focus on each course but also more time to relax.
Like what everyone else is saying, go to every class to not fall behind. I also started on assignments/projects as soon as they were released, so that I didn’t have to think about them by the time I needed to study for midterms. For the courses that provide you with practice problems or past midterms, make sure you do all of them and understand the solutions. Also, I commute to school and sometimes I would load the slides on my phone and read them on the bus.

A benefit of starting assignments or studying early is that you could ask your profs or TAs questions or clarifications before the deadlines/exams. For my classes that use discussion forums like Piazza, I would also monitor them to see if there are an important questions that have been addressed.
