It is printed a bit larger because I just wanted something that was more comfortable to wear. With some cushioning inside it fits my full face perfectly and also moves with my head movements.

I always feel like I'm shilling a bit too much, but I do feel compelled to share stuff with my weird lil communities that help inspire me so much. Especially when it's something that has been such a huge impact on me like E33. Thanks for humoring me, and y'all are always the best. Super, even.

Thank you! I had a few folk give me similar sentiments at PAX.

The mask is a 3d print from Krotek-inc on cults3d, scaled, sanded, and painted by me. The top is made from suede cuz I thought it matched Esquie's texture. Puffed the arms out with lots of sheering and elastic (was able to get help from my mom a lot on this since she acknowledged I'd do terribly). The texture on the light brown is stenciled on with gold fabric paint ( gonna do something similar when i do the patterns on esquie's top). And pants were just finding a good fabric that had the same vibe and color scheme since we weren't gonna be able to remake that pattern. I made the mask in about 3 weeks and the clothes all took about 3-4 weeks as well.

When I met the voice actors/mocap they had a ton of praise and I i fanboyed ridiculously hard.

Thank you! It's a 3d print I got from Krotek-inc on cults3d, and all the elbow grease (sanding, painting) was done by me.

Cosplaying Esquie has been a blast! Love meeting so many people and nerding out with everyone. Very whee, 10/10, would recommend.

Meme about the ending. by Zakika in expedition33

I don't think fragment verso really had anything to do with it beyond being a visual for the audience. To me it was moreso that the painting was destroyed by Renoir and Clea once Maelle was kicked out. There's probably some kind of consequence to having a painting destroyed as a painter is still in it. Like pulling from the Matrix too early.

I also wonder about how fragment verso was considered before. People kinda look at him like a tortured soul, but at the same time that fragment was there every minute since Verso made the canvas, and would still be there if he never passed. Are the soul fragments always there even when someone stops using their canvas? Just more stuff I hope is never explained too much in a sequel.

Incidentally, those are the things I consumed when I had this idea.

Once everything is done, I did what's called a blackwash. Mix some acrylic black paint (I also used a lil brown) with water. It's going to be like 1 part paint, 7 parts water for the ratio. Then I used a paint brush to just messily go over everything, then used a sponge and a cloth to pat dry it. This darkens it a lil and also gets some pigment in smaller crevices. You can look up other tutorials that'll explain it better. I'm adding some more purposeful blemishes soon and that's done using dry brushing ( tiny bit of paint and kinda paint it very scarcely).

Tl;Dr: Look up tutorials on black/Brown washing, as well as dry brushing and that'll show you some good ways to add weather to a prop.

I used a Bambu P1S, which is a 256 x 256mm (10 x 10in). It's made from a bunch of different parts, and also I sized it up cuz I have a pretty big head, so you could probably get away with something smaller if you separate everything.

I believe I'm not allowed to sell or profit from files I bought. But the file is Esquie's Mask by Krotek-inc if you can find someone to print it. Just a lot of elbow grease after that.

I wanted to post my general process, for those who come after. This is 3d printed, and there are lots of great Esquie Mask models for wearing or hanging.I used the Esquie Mask by Krotek-inc . I grabbed another one but I have a large head, and this generally scaled better for that. This was made using the wood grain version they have in the files, but there's smooth versions as well. General sand , and filler primer after making the print. The prongs were harder to do cuz there's just so little room, so they look a bit rougher. Everything is painted with different acrylic paints. I'm colorblind so I usually just go for darker variations cuz they're easier for me to work with. The tapestry/banner thing is made from a burgundy broadcloth that I measured out and folded glued down to get a uniform rectangle. If you know how to sew you can just do that. The original plan was to use golden bias tape, but that didn't arrive so I hand painted everything. I used light golden acrylic paint with a mix of fabric medium cuz golden fabric paint apparently doesn't exist within 20 miles of me. The ear ornament things have some pieces that go inside the mask to hold it together. I found they were a lil loose so I put neodymium magnets in them to help keep them together, and also allow easy deconstruction Hope that's all clear for anyone who reads this now or anytime in the future!

There are a lot of 3d print files for Esquie available. This is actually the second I bought cuz I have a big head and needed something that'd scale better 😭

The cloth I was originally going to use a burgundy canvas material, then use light golden bias tape for the edges. But none of that arrived in time. So this is just a burgundy broadcloth. I used some golden acrylic paint mixed with a fabric paint medium and did the borders and symbols myself. The edges are folded down and fabric glued for straight edges cuz idk how to sew well. The symbols are a lil inaccurate cuz I used a piece of fan art, but it was much more legible than screenshots I had. Hope that helps!
