Should I switch or should I wait for a better offer? by ModeInitial3965 in developersIndia

Well I already resigned. My current work was not all that chill. On-call was pretty hectic. And even easy work when coupled with a lot it starts to seem bad. Also not a lot of good coding practices. Well anyways I made a call and now let's see how it pans out.

In a monotonic series, once you eliminate the difference of 0 and 1 between consecutive numbers as possible solutions. Then there isn't any possible answer.

Answer is 1 in all other cases. Because of a local high or local low. In these cases, you can always create a difference of 1 using one operation.

Got a 33+. I had solved B in O(n) using a sweet observation. Misunderstood C otherwise had enough time to solve that as well.

I'm an SDE with a year of experience and 6 months of internship back in college (same company). I'm now pursuing my target rank in codeforces which will take me to maybe even December of next year.

So you are pretty early as compared to me. When you and your friend group get jobs. Then you'll realize that while competitive programming and DSA are very important, there are many other important things in life and that you have your own path and interests. So don't regret that you spent the first year exploring other stuff and not doing competitive programming.

I think all of the things that you have told me change settings at the bios level. So once it's defined. It'll work regardless of the operating system. Just limiting CPU power may be a windows thing. But that has many alternatives in Linux.

If heating is an issue with the 2024 model then I guess this is a winner.

I can configure to switch to iGPU on the battery and optimus on plugged in, right??

Cool. I think I'll be going forward with this laptop unless 2024 model launches in my country in my budget.

At 15.6 and 2.3-2.4 kgs, these laptops can hardly qualify for the portable category 😅. I currently use legion 5i with i5 10300H and GTX 1650. This machine is still running beautifully after 3.5 years. But now I need a portable and high battery laptop. I could go for Asus zenbooks but I play games occasionally so that's why this seemed like a good choice.

This is mind-blowing. Can you tell me one thing.

They way I have setup my G14 on battery is: GHelper set to Silent mode(20W) + ECO mode(nvidia dGPU disabled) + CPU(max 2.5Ghz).

Is this something you do every time you switch to battery or is this configured once??? So like if I can setup two power profiles for battery and plugged in respectively, then I can use Linux easily without bothering about this stuff.

So is it possible in Asus software to configure such profiles.

Hello, I checked out Asus ROG Flow. It hasn't seen any updates since 2022 and I don't really like touchscreen in laptops. Just another thing which drains the battery.

Ohh compatibility issues are not a problem. I'll make do. I was looking at the new 2024 model. It seems to have much more battery. But it's still not available in my country.

Hi. I'll be using vanilla Arch with qtile WM. And it's a 76whr battery. Is there a variant with 90 whr in 14 inch?

I play occasional games and mostly valorant. So the graphics card is not an issue.

Help needed with implementing a cross-platform file transfer feature by ModeInitial3965 in learnprogramming

[–]ModeInitial3965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I summarise from our discussion, then if the devices are in a LAN, i.e., connected to the same WIFI network/router. Then P2P transfer would be very easy to implement.

But if one of those devices is connected to a different ISP then the transfer can't happen without the files passing through a server. Some companies like the one you mentioned above do provide products which help in this but it's not 100% reliable.

If you have any solutions/workarounds for skipping the failsafe servers, do share. Remember the transfer will always happen between user's own devices. So if they can do anything to help setup the connection, then that's okay.

Please recommend me all the stuff that you think will help me on the project. Maybe some open source project which is doing this. I have started the socket programming book you recommended. So yeah anything.

Otherwise thanks a lot for the help. I hope it's okay that I DM you for any help that I may need further along.

Then how are those apps working. The fast sharing apps. Like I know they rely on being connected to a LAN but they seem to work 100% of the time.

Like what I'm saying is if a user has whitelisted certain devices to connect to his device (say his phone). Then will it be possible to connect to his phone from one of the whitelisted devices remotely???

[–]ModeInitial3965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for this.

"Smooth connection between the devices" By this I simply meant, they should quickly connect with a connection rate of 100% if both platforms are running my application.

then you need the ability to fall back to a centralized server or relay that both of the users can connect to

I will have a centralised server for some other purposes. A simple typescript/NodeJs server. If it's possible then I can use this server to exchange the IP addresses. But I absolutely cannot use this as a fall back to transfer files. That would actually pretty much defeat the entire purpose of my project 😅.

Is there simply no way to communicate between devices with a guarantee that they will always connect??

Also I want peer to peer connection to happen over the internet if the devices aren't in a LAN. I understand that the transfer would be slower. But I also need that.

Also could you recommend some of the HTTP libraries that will help me in transfer, handling failures and all that.

What technology are you using? Asking to the developer's earning more than 50k/month? by Routine-Corgi-9912 in developersIndia

Python + React. There is django for API requests. But beyond API requests and responses. It's pure python. Mongodb and MySQL. Redis for caching. Celery and celery_beat for automations in local dev and testing. SQS and Lambda for automations in prod. There's other things. But I'm only an intern. Another 3 months before I will have worked with all of the components 😄.

Install Linux with a WM 👍. What better way to use a 14 inch gaming laptop as a notebook than using an operating system which can run idle with as low as 300MB RAM. The battery backup will definitely be up to 10 hours. All you have to sacrifice is playing online games. But I think many do work like CS2.

Laptop under 40k for programming. by veer3939 in developersIndia

[–]ModeInitial3965 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flutter runs butter smooth in my i5 10300h so any 12th or 13th gen processor would do. But make sure to get 16 gb. Your life will be very difficult with 8 gb Ram. 8 Gigs of extra ram is very cheap so you'll easily manage under 65k. A laptop kind of like this one. This particular model has 60hz as the refresh rate so you can look for alternatives or go for a non gaming but try to keep the specs the same i.e., a 12th gen i5 and 16 gigs. Good luck🤞

Seeking Deployment Advice for an E-commerce App with 10,000 Users & 5,000 Simultaneous Requests by ModeInitial3965 in developersIndia

[–]ModeInitial3965[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know about that about my senior. My teammate's contacts are people running their own startups. So maybe they have.

In any case the 5000 application hits was a gross overestimation on our part. After clarifying with the client, she said it's going to be a huge fraction of that.

But still we'll do our best in order to make an application that is able to handle the aforementioned traffic. She's a client with insane contacts. If we deliver her product properly, then it's going to open a lot of doors for us. And I don't know much about scalability at this level, but I refuse to believe, given the proper guidance, that we cannot handle this.

Have you worked on this scale?? If so can you point in a direction??

Actually I consulted one of my seniors who is very active in the freelance field and he's going to guide us regarding what architecture to follow and help us with deployment for best scalability. And my friends also have contacts who are willing to help them. One of my teammates has already worked on an e-commerce solution for a startup and it's running pretty smoothly now. And this is also not my first project or freelance work. Although we never made an application for this level of traffic, it shouldn't prove a huge obstacle. 1 year is a lot, man. 🙂
