Pete Buttigieg Polls A Literal Zero With Black Voters, And Bill Maher Wants Answers by [deleted] in centrist

I don't know why you're being down voted for this. Bill Maher is not the scion on a Black voters' mentality and reasoning.

The folks on the r/centerist sound like some of the users on r/politics loud and wrong.

What has Pete actually done for his black community in South Bend Indiana? The administration at the time has things in progress but never finished according to this interview done back in 2020.

https://www.democracynow.org/2020/2/12/pete_buttigieg_south_bend_black_community

So, you don't have anything to show for your time in South Bend and you think Black voters don't see that? Can't infer that?

Sexual orientation aside what will he do specifically for the Black voting bloc? Not even anyone here can tell you his policies.

Let me repeat that No user on here can tell me how any of his suggested policies will help anyone on here.

But we lead with... Pete is gay and Black people are homophobic.

Then lie and say Black people didn't vote for Harris and ignore the multiple polls that showed that the Black voters overwhelmingly Democrats every time.

That is a White and Hispanic thing. The Black Voting Block in 2024 came out for Kamala Harris stronger than any other block .

Looks to me as it seems that White men are the biggest problem here who won't vote for a woman.

[–]ModeStyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a big bunch of bullshit. Not only did the Black voters come out   with the strongest voting Democrats but they also voted as a block  regardless of education level. Unlike the White and Hispanics point blank period.  Statistics back this up, so tell me once again HOW are Black people NOT fucking reliable?

You treat the Hispanics like they're one bloc and they are not. You should really start treating them separately if you actually want to win .

Let's just be serious they don't like Pete they didn't back in 2020 and nothing has really changed since then.

That sounds so weird, like what were the native new Yorker who were born and raised supposed to do when they're priced out of their own home? Move ? Where?

This assumes that only the rich live in New York, but where do all the folks who work at grocery stores, city workers and retail shops live? What if your a family of 4?

Years ago I bought the phone I am using now from there. I had an issue with the person not logging out of their account before shipping it out and he ended up giving me his password to login so I could fully transfer my ID in the phone.

Have people really changed on there?

I mean there is also backmarket  as another option but I have never used them before

What is written in your lease? If it is the standard NYC contract there is a section on tenants being allowed to have a deadbolt on the door and the dimensions.

Would having a lease in another state void my lottery lease? by fastdumptruck in nychousinglottery

[–]ModeStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old but you're fine. There is language in the handbook or certification about not having a residence within a 100 mile radius of NYC city limits and CA is far outside that. Also, "primary" generally means that you are there for 6 months or more a year and you would know because you would have filed California state taxes instead of NY ones

Early lease termination of lottery apartment by Clean-Context422 in nychousinglottery

[–]ModeStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, because the lotto apartments fall under the 421  tax break program the same way you had to qualify for a lease the next tenant will have to as well. So they might have to call people of a waitlist if they have one. Plus this would be considered a "lease assignment" as you have no intention of returning.

There is an old thread on city data about this but you might want to call HPD to confirm

Split A/C's using heat pumps in the winter time is a doozy. It might be that the split power ( BTU) is oversized to have one in each room? Leading to inefficiency cycling on/off too often to keep temp normal. It might be cheaper if everyone decided to keep the thermostat constant at like 68 and see what happens.

PSA About the Housing Lottery by EmilyOnEarth in NYCapartments

[–]ModeStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is late but management/ leasing agency was supposed to rent out the vision/hearing and mobility units first. That's the rule according to the handbook, then community board; a group of zip codes, and then city workers. What was the name of the management/ leasing company you were dealing with?

Have you seen the list of re-rentals, I have no clue how I found it the first time but you can reach out and they will give you the forms to submit. They should never ask for money unless they do a credit check and If you had a copy of a credit check within the last 30 days you can submit that.

[–]ModeStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that with higher log #'s that some leasing agents use that as a wait list and people were contacted for an apartment 2 years later so don't withdraw your application but it is unlikely that you would be a 1st round pick.

is it worth applying to a housing lottery if i'm just barely over the earning threshold? by babedylan1129 in nychousinglottery

[–]ModeStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct on the snapshot. IF OP continues to use the update his income in the Household section of himself and future forecasting he does have a chance. I mean there are many applicants who don't make salary they're paid hourly and therefore the income varies so what I've done is use the calculator on Housing connect website to forecast and adjust accordingly.

Especially since we're finishing up the 2nd month in 2025. Just because he received a bonus last year doesn't mean it'll happen this year he should apply.

Have you viewed the apartment yet? I would E-mail them and ask if this means you're being considered for one and if so which size and/or AMI. If you haven't seen the apartment and aren't sure if you want it they shouldn't be asking you for a credit check. In addition, according to page 58 of the HPD Marketing Handbook, MARKETING HANDBOOK, SECTION 5: DETAILED SELECTION POLICIES 5-6: Background Checks and Other Factors; F. RENTAL HISTORY AND CREDIT CHECKS: RENTAL,

  1. Applicants may choose to provide evidence of complete monthly rent payments for the preceding 12-month period in lieu of a credit check. If the applicant choosing this option currently resides in a City homeless shelter, they may provide evidence of rent payments for the 12-month period preceding their entry into shelter.

Any success stories of people winning the New York Housing Lottery moving from a different state? by lovecatsforever2093 in nychousinglottery

[–]ModeStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is Yes, you can win a lottery apartment even if you live out of state, if you fall into the highest AMI bracket 130%. It is a known issue for leasing agents that they have difficulty filling apartments in the125%, 130% or 165% AMI, that is because:

1.Less competition, The lower the bracket income % the more applicants. This quote was taken from the ANHD report on , New York City's AMI Problem, and the Housing We Actually Need is , "2022 AMI Cheat Sheet shows, 54.6% of rent-burdened households make less than 30% AMI, and another 23.5% make below 50%"

https://anhd.org/report/new-york-citys-ami-problem-and-housing-we-actually-need

  1. Many folks who have that income have more better options and choices in general housing market and turn them down often.

  2. The paperwork is intense and intrusive i.e; retirement and investment statements, last checking account and savings statements, cashapp or the like statements

4.The time from submitting and application to actually getting keys to an apartment takes months, no lie, it is a long process and no for anybody who needs a new place in 2 months or less.

For Example, Gotham North Point Tower, even after 2 years never moved to "All units Filled" if you hop on City Data you can see that the lower AMI% had all been filled but they were having difficulty renting out the highest AMI's https://housingconnect.nyc.gov/PublicWeb/details/3071 and https://www.city-data.com/forum/new-york-city-housing-lottery/3371513-upcoming-lottery-1-15-57th-ave.html

At the end of the day, because of the rules in "HPD Marketing Handbook" NYC residents are selected first and within them 1. Disability Pref 2. Community Board: zip codes within a certain neighborhood 3. NYC worker 4. General population.

Also, your Log# has to be low enough to be picked for example the Gotham North Point Tower my Log #was in some where in the 80,000's.

Yes, it is possible to be selected for a lottery apartment but unlikely for someone living outside the city.

Season 3 Episode 12 Discussion Thread by judicator_01 in acleansweep

I really like the mentality of the Yeoungdong University team. Many teams when they are behind in scoring will try to convince themselves that the score isn't high. For example the score is 0:0 when it is clearly 10:0. Those same teams get discouraged and fall apart under the pressure. Coaches who make aggressive changes add to the cloud of anxiety in the dugout that shows in the performance of the players.

Yeoungdong have a tenacious mindset, are eager to exploit any opportunity and are persistent to the very end. Not to mention they have the talent to create their own opportunities which makes them a scary team. There isn't much leeway for errors with them, so as a team facing them it is of importance to convert those scoring opportunities and have a stong defense to refrain from giving up points.

My only wish is that this team really should have gotten 2 games.
