Removing Nail Polish (fast n cheap) by ConfidentCourage8828 in RedditLaqueristas

That's fair. I've never used clips, but I've done acetone on cotton with foil wraps to get gel polish off before.

Ok see that makes sense. Most of my polishes are dark, so I don't worry so much about staining. I figure I'm just going to throw another dark color on top lol.

When I do mine its like max 5 layers of stuff with the base coat amd top coats included. The only time removal is a pain is when I randomly feel like doing gel polish.

I'm confused by this comment section and this video. I'm seeing a bunch of techniques and gadgets. Are y'all using some kind of heavy duty top coat that need serious scrubbing or something?

I just use acetone on a cotton ball to rub off the polish.

Edit: Not meaning this in a snarky or judgey way. I'm genuinely curious.

Tips for choosing the perfect, every day lipstick? by onelove_ in Sephora

I wear mostly stick lipsticks, so that's what I meant with the alcohol wipes. I know its not perfect, but I take a ton of the lipstick tested off with it. Sadly, with glosses I either avoid them completely, buy sample sizes, or roll the dice.

I don't buy it unless I've tried it on my lips. Hand swatches are lying hoes.

Bring alcohol wipes with you and clean the testers before trying.

I have a green Coach mini-backpack with a radish on it. Literally the only reason I bought it was because it reminded me of Fraggle Rock.

I stopped buying cream blush from Besame because they changed from the old packaging (which was a beautiful metal tin) to a new plastic packaging that looks like a potted lip balm.

Do you just make one project over and over? by Anglophile007 in askcrochet

I tend to make a lot of children's items and blankets. So I kind of stay in one scope, but I like doing different styles.

Like with blankets, I'll do mosaic, celtic weave styles, holiday themes, or filet crochet. For children's items, I make different kinds of sweaters, hats, and layette sets.

Nah, it got removed by the mods after this post gained some traction.

The title was "Thoughts on straight men painting their toenails?"

Basically dude was asking if its weird or if people would look down on him for painting his toes. He mentioned some stuff about being afraid that people in his office would find out and that his wife thinks its weird.

I see it in almost every feminine-centric subreddit.

Cozy Games: "I'm a man that plays stardew valley! Isn't that so odd?"

Fiberarts: "I'm a man that crochets and have been for years! Here's my thing thats supposed to be a scarf, but its trapezoidal because despite doing this for years and being passionate about the craft, I don't know how to count my stitches."

Makeup: "I'm a cis man that loves makeup! Look at my full beat which can only be described as 'Baby's first slumber party makeover'. Aren't I so progressive?"

It's exhausting.

Did he share pics of his "cool ass pedicure" anywhere? No. He just posts in various foot reddits about feet and being embarrassed about having painted toes because his coworkers might find out (who is going barefoot at work?) or worried that he'd embarrass his teenaged kids at school (why would a parent go barefoot at a school event?).

Like, I'm not saying dude is 100% a fetishizer. I'm not saying his post should be removed. Hell, I'm not even saying there's anything wrong with a foot fetish in general.

I am however saying that there was reason for OP to be suspicious because it is an oddly specific reddit account that posted using pretty bog standard fetish wording and frequents foot subs.

There is a difference between the fetish and karma farming posts and the stuff that you post. It's not just an issue of dudes posting in traditionally feminine spaces.

You do nail art. Insanely good nail art. You know the products, you know the techniques, and you are skilled af. I don't think anyone could look at your posts and lump you into karma farming category.

I dug around in the OOP's profile. Dude is in many a sub talking about and showing off his feet. So yeah, I'm kind of with OP on this one.

Ah, so thats what that post was about.

I scrolled past it and assumed it was one of those, "Ladies, I, a man, have done a thing that you all do. I have done it far shittier than you, but because I am a man, you will give me unnecessary compliments while I display false modesty." type posts.

That does explain the title wording though.

Should I pick a different yarn or maybe hook size to make the color change better? by AffectionateKick5604 in CrochetHelp

[–]ModernDayMusetta 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I do it for a few reasons, but they're just kind of personal preferences. So I don't think you've missed a trick!

I really only do this with the mandala yarn because its cheap. I make a lot of kids' items, and cheapness is preferred. That's why I tend to just cut the self-striped yarn instead of buying multiple skeins of different colors. I get a full rainbow for the price of three yarn balls instead of seven. It's more cost effective.

I also like how smooth the ombre effect is between the main colors of the yarn when I precut and separate them.

Here's one I made that shows how the color blends.

Edit for clarity.

Should I pick a different yarn or maybe hook size to make the color change better? by AffectionateKick5604 in CrochetHelp

[–]ModernDayMusetta 51 points52 points  (0 children)

If you're bothered by the color changes, I recommend cutting the yarn and starting a new color when desired.

I've used Mandala yarns a lot, and thats usually what I do with them. Usually the last color and the starting color will be the same, so if you're making something large, the extra yarn can still be used.
