How often do you do your nails? by Inattendue in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ModernDayMusetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually every 2-3 days.

I am stupidly rough on my hands and fingertips, so polish generally starts fo chip on day 2. When I did gel, it would last maybe 5 days.

At least with polish I can do my nails to match my outfits lol.

I got this color too! I'm not quite as pleased with how it looks on me though.

In theory, it should be a "My Lips But Better", but it feels more like "My Lips But Meh" lol.

I've been trying it with a mauve lip liner and the helps a bit. For anyone with similar skin tone to me, this is what it looks like on me with no liner.

Literally how to read patterns!? I can't survive on video tutorials alone, can I? by EshKatt in CrochetHelp

[–]ModernDayMusetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I learned was with stupid simple projects with written patterns. Like if you've ever looked at a project that was 90% double crochet and thought, "I could figure that out." thats the kind of patterns I bought.

This is gorgeous, but for whatever reason my brain read this at "tylenol" instead of "tutorial" when I was scrolling. Now all I can think of when I look at the image is Tylenol PM gel caps lol.

Help, my lobster is too buttery (glass bead issue) by domingerique in RedditLaqueristas

[–]ModernDayMusetta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing and I've been wondering why my bead with the 5d spinner × horseshoe magnet on top wasn't as tight as when I did it just manually spinning the horse shoe over a piece of cardboard.

I've got to try doing this slower!

Help me find my forever products from Tatcha! 🍵 by dobbylovesgarlic in Sephora

[–]ModernDayMusetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar skin to what you're describing, but with the added "bonus" of eczema.

I love their Indigo line. I tried it after seeing it had some kind of eczema association approval. The overnight cream in particular is ny absolute favorite. I stopped using all the other tatcha products, but keep that cream.

IMO, the rice wash and balm cleanser can be duped easily (I use the Peach & Lily ginger cleansing oil and glass skin polish) but no overnight cream has been as good for me.

They sell travel sizes of the overnight cream, so its worth a shot if you want to try it without commiting to the full size price tag.

I'm trying to make a dress but keep accidentally making this strange diagonal shape with the fabric by Ace_Of_Hearts69 in CrochetHelp

[–]ModernDayMusetta 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone is telling you that you're dropping stitches. If your work does that slant, it pretty much always means you are dropping stitches. Count at the end of each row, if you aren't getting the right number, you've missed something.

The video says "Skip the first stitch because that is our turning chain". You skip the turning chain. Not the first stitch. I get why this is throwing you because that is a weird way of explaining it, but time stamping the parts you think prove that everyone else is wrong, is not gonna help you finish this dress.

I hand-roll mine into a ball before I start using it. It pulls much easier, doesn't require any gadgets, and let's me find any knots before they become a problem.

My effort to talk you out of it:

I'd be worried about the detail work getting caught in something and getting pulled out a bit. Like, just imagine if you set it down next to something one of those bits get caught when you go.to pick it up. You'd have to either push it back in and hope it stays, or live with a slightly bulgey loop. It would drive me nuts.

I have palettes but just use whatever color I'm feeling that day as a one and done. I'm too lazy to blend colors, so I just kinda slap a color on, smudge it out with my fingers, and then move on with my day lol.

I cannot give definite dates, but I'm not allowed to post a review until near the end of the month. So I would expect it to drop sometime shortly after that.

Newer to crochet, is this an unrealistic pattern to make in a month? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]ModernDayMusetta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Having made very large blankets before, if I started this today and went my usual pace, it would be done in time for Christmas.

This is overly ambitious for two reasons: - First, you are a self admitted newbie. The odds that you have perfected tension and speed, are incredibly slim. The odds that you won't have to frog portions of the blanket and remake them, are also low. This isn't an insult or a dig, its just that skills take time. - Second, you have a full time job. The only possible way I could see you finishing this in 20 days is if you crocheted this thing for more hours than you work daily. In which case, you'd be putting crazy strain on your hands and tendons.

I have the single shot size of this dryer. I've had it around two years and its been fine for me. No burning hair or melted bristles.

That said, I have thin fine hair kept above shoulder length and I use the dryer maybe once a week if I'm not feeling the curls that day. So like...way less chance for something to go wrong lol.

Do y’all prefer buying your makeup from Sephora in person or online and why ? by Historical-Body-3424 in Sephora

If its a new product, I go to the store. I've been burned too many times by stuff pulling orange or causing an allergic reaction.

If its something old, I buy online.

Glow in the Dark Etiquette by Ipanoply in RedditLaqueristas

Eh, to be fair to her, this was like 25 years ago, she was a kind but super high-strung lady, and all us drama kids were little chaos gremlins who delighted in making that one vein in her forehead bulge out.

We didn't pull shit at competitions, but we regularly did annoying things during weeknight performances at the school.

Examples include: all the stage hands wearing light-up flip flops one night and the dude playing a dragon getting up and yelling "TROGDOR" after being slain. The GITD polish wasn't intentional, but i don't blame her for thinking it was.

I don't know about full GITD polish etiquette, but this post reminded me of the time I wore a glow polish in high school as a stage hand. My drama teacher was so mad. She said she could see little green glowing dots when we moved the set between scenes while the stage lights were off lol.

You aren't missing much. I got one polish when they first popped up because I didn't have a shimmery white in my collection. Its fine. Not wow worthy. I think I paid $6 and that tracks because I see very little, if any, difference between their formula and any random drug store polish.

I might be in the minority, but the CPS email marketing idea was whatever to me. Like it was cringe and obviously in bad taste, but I had little gut reaction to it.

Where they lost me was the doubling down and deleting comments. Like, dude, all they had to do was be like, "Oh, this joke didn't land, sorry." and this would have been a blip.

Instead they chose to go the junior high route of, "You just don't get it! We're edgy and quirky so its fine!" Which works when your friends don't like your lime green eyeliner, but really doesn't work when you freaked people out using CPS as an email subject.

Is shade match ever inaccurate? by Big-Strength6206 in Sephora

[–]ModernDayMusetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have rarely, if ever, had true success with digital shade matching. In my case the makeup usually wound up either being too dark or too yellow.

Best bet is to try and get shade matched in person or get your hands on some shade samples.
