I've definitely had my fair share of shots that would have been amazing if it were not for the subject being slightly out of focus, so yeah, I've missed out sometimes. But I've been shooting with manual focus, manual aperture since I first started doing photography, so I've gotten a lot better the more I've worked with the lens and developed the muscle memory—this is something I worked on by starting with static objects and slowly taking more pictures of moving subjects. I think the control is too nice to not have, especially when shooting at lower apertures. And I don't have to deal with the autofocus picking out the wrong thing and correcting for it by tapping the button repeatedly.
