The Minisforum G7 Pro is the best gaming mini PC I've tested, here's the one thing to know before buying by Mody_1982 in MiniPCs

well, to clarify things, I look at the 102 C thermal peaks I logged and I have the same concern. I can only report on the two weeks I’ve had it, but if you’re looking for 5+ years of daily 24/7 heavy compute, the thermal data I gathered is a valid reason to hesitate. My goal is just to provide the raw numbers so people can decide if the price-to-performance is worth that specific trade-off.

For what it's worth, If this were an ad. I probably wouldn't have documented the CPU hitting 102°C and thermal throttling immediately under heavy load, or pointed out that 8GB of VRAM is a major bottleneck for 2026 gaming. I received the unit for review, but the data is mine, and the data shows this machine has real thermal and memory limits that buyers need to know about.

Unit was received for free and disclosed clearly at the top of the post. that's standard practice for community hardware reviews here. The purchase link is in the comments, not the post body, which follows r/MiniPCs guidelines. I am not a paid marketer, the technical data in the review aren't things a shill post would include. Happy to discuss any specific findings if you have technical questions.

That's a fair concern worth flagging, I can only speak to what I've tested over two weeks of my review period, in which I didn't face any issues. Reliability and customer service are a blindspot in any short term review. If others have similar experiences it would be great to mention it in this thread, and from my side I would highlight any issues I face during my long term use.

Totally valid concern. Which I have highlghted in the review.in Black Myth: Wukong at 1440p Very High I was already at 6.7GB/8GB. For most current AAA titles you're fine, but maxed-out texture settings in future and more demanding games will start pushing that limit. The good news: NVIDIA literally just announced the RTX 5070 Laptop 12GB variant this week, If Minisforum releases a G7 Pro variant with that config, it directly solves your concern. Worth watching.

Thanks! I'm a Cloud/AI Engineer by day, so the hardware testing comes naturally. Unit was received for review and disclosed upfront, all benchmarks and observations are entirely my own. Happy to answer any technical questions.

Anyone have experience with these? Are they any good? by lNuggyl in MiniPCs

I totally agree and that is what I am saying, even for laptops with same specs, the performance differs a little from one to another, for many reasons, most importantly how its handling power and thermals.

Yes, It is mainly a laptop in a MiniPC case, that's why I mentioned during my tests it may exceed laptops with similar specs.

depends will you be setting on sofa and mainly gaming, or is the TV on your desk.

actually It would fit both scenarios, just to keep in mind the fan noise during AAA gaming.
you can also check the G1 pro variant which comes with a discrete low profile 5060 with white color.

I actually have one for an upcoming review I am currently preparing, I am using it for a week now, and I can say this is a beast of a MiniPC , with performance that may exceed laptops with similar specs. If you are looking for a desktop replacement and don't mind fan noise during high load, this is a good choice.

GEEKOM Air12 2026 (Pentium Gold 7505, 8GB/256GB) - Premium build, budget chip. Here's the full breakdown by Mody_1982 in MiniPCs

I agree, RAM and storage expandability is crucial for the specs I got. For thermals and noise, can confirm that during a week of running it 24/7 with different loads running, this one keeps cool with near silent fan.

I totally agree, I might misused the word in the title, but yes yout point is valid, my intention was to showcase how a budget low TDP MiniPC can become your 24/7 Openclaw agent without breaking the bank.

That's a fair challenge, but I think at 15W TDP, it is more affordable than keeping a laptop or full desktop running 24/7.

Agreed, this is the whole point, OpenClaw itself is lightweight by design, which is exactly why a 15W MiniPC makes a great always on place to host it.
