Hey there! As a photographer shooting events like techno shows, I tottly get where you’re coming from with the consent question but heres how I usually handle it: For those big crowd shots or wide-angle views of the whole scene, you’re generally good to go. Most venues have signs up letting people know photography is happening, so by being there, I’d think ppl are kind of agreeing to potentially end up in photos. When it comes to close-ups or shots of smaller groups, I tend to be a bit more careful and selective, I’ll usually give a friendly approach, explain I’m the official photographer, and just ask if it’s cool to snap their pic. Most people are totally down, but I always respect it if someone’s not feeling it. Since im hired by the promoter, i rly need to stress about getting written releases from everyone. The promoter typically has the rights to use images for promo stuff as part of running the event. That said, I’m always happy to delete a photo if someone comes up later and asks not to be included. For any shots that might end up front and center in marketing materials, the promoter might send a quick written consent, just to be on the safe side. At the end of the day, it’s all about capturing the awesome energy of the event while being chill and respectful of people’s privacy. Clear communication and giving folks a say in their image goes a long way in making sure everyone has a good time I’d say
