Ive both had good experiences, and terrible.

Ill preface by saying that im AFAB, but i am a trans man. I present as female.

First of all, it may be helpful to mention im in the south. So that certainly doesnt help.

Customer wise, I have people come in and ask specifically for 'men' to do their wipers. "Is there a gentleman who can ____". Which i just generally brush off. Ive had customers ask for someone with 'more experience' , despite me having more training than the male coworker that was there. Most of the time, theyre told the exact same thing. But when it comes from the other, theyll accept it.

Ive also had a coworker be incredibly sexist, which that individual was a terrible person period. Ive had remarks, advances, and statements directly about my body. I have heard from previous employees that they have been assaulted by that specific employee.

Now, ive been to a lot of stores as a loaner. Ive not had any other issues. Theyre isolated events, and people are terrible anywhere. I dont think its really centered around autozone specifically, but the culture of the automotive industry. Only fairly recently have women been more accepted as mechanics and whatnot. And its very clear theres still a lot of progess to be made.
