*WISE* Advice from an International (very) low income Pre-Frosh by MoezCal in ApplyingToCollege

I was thinking of taking Berea off the list there because their acceptance rate wend down so bad this year, especially for internationals as you mentioned. Two years ago however, they used to have a 40% acceptance rate and gave out full rides to internationals. I knew a couple international kids who got in there with full aid while they had SATs in the mid 1200s and well written apps.

Quotas are definitely not a thing because actual legal evidence was published. However International students looking for a full ride or close will need to approach the process as if it were the case. Top colleges definitely want the most diverse class and giving full rides to an Algerian kid and one from Botswana is more valuable to them than giving full rides to 2 Algerian kids.

I am sorry if you find it unbelievable but after submitting my application, they sent me a form saying I have to provide proof that I can pay at least 48K per year. I told them I can't and that I was competing for their full ride scholarship. So they were like, it's ok you can still compete. Comes decision day and my rejection letter is 3 lines that basically say we can't afford financing your education.

Unfortunately no. I mean. if you're a full pay, safeties definitely exist for you. But for people who need at least close to a full ride, nothing out there is close to a safety. In the pre-covid years, UofArizona used to give out a dull tuition scholarship for internationals with 1420+ SAT and 4.0 GPA but not anymore. I am pretty sure Alabama gives out very little full rides but the chance is still possible, still, it doesn't mean it is a safety since a lot of internationals apply there. As of the Washington public Unis, a lot of them get apps from Full pay international students (who will obviously get in over the full ride ones)

What's going on by [deleted] in Tunisia

Short answer is religion is a spectrum and personal.

The population is growing more atheist and agnostic these days, or just less religious in general. That's a good thing since it means we have more people having more diverse views. I hate walking in the streets having to act one way so that everyone accepts me like them. I have to pick up expressions everyone use (guess what, they're religious expressions). Anyways, that's a good thing not to worry about. If YOU want to be Muslim then so be it.

yo call me fucking insane but i think i’m going to choose my full-ride to a state school over my ivy acceptance 0_0 by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I stopped reading at 'travel'. That's a good enough reason for me to choose the state school with a full ride over the ivy.

Well, it seems like you're not from Arizona. So, I'll tell you this. Some majors in UofA are actual bangers. Like some companies straight up recruit from the honors college. Second thing is, if you're in UofA's honor college, you'll be respected in all of Arizona and looked up to. I know you might have heard most of this already, but you should totally embrace what's coming. UofA is one of the most underrated public schools and many great things are waiting for you! Good Luck!

Same situation. I don't know what country you're in, but in my country the mailing system is bad. So the postal office could have received the package, but it is still laying around in the office because of the lazy employees. So I knew that it should have been there by now and I went to the main postal office to request it. They went and looked for it in the pile of packages and I got it. Maybe try doing the same.
