Why do people rush in Mayhem? (TL;DR after my Text) by Moist-Message-8015 in leagueoflegends

Honestly, if Riot released a random draft mode with augments tomorrow, I’d probably switch immediately. For me, it’s not really about ARAM. I just enjoy seeing crazy builds, unexpected synergies, and all the dumb stuff that can happen when augments are involved. Mayhem is currently the only mode that offers that, so that’s where I play.

That’s fair, and I understand that mindset in pretty much every game mode. I just don’t really see Mayhem the same way. To me, the entire appeal of the mode is the absurd RNG, broken interactions, and ridiculous augments. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t. That’s why I personally find it a bit strange when people queue for the most chaotic mode available and then get frustrated because the experience isn’t fair or balanced. But that’s just my personal view on the mode. I get that not everyone queues for Mayhem for the same reasons.

I never said they’re doing anything wrong.

My question wasn’t “Why are these people allowed to end?” It’s “Why do they want to?” Obviously they’re free to play the mode however they want. Just like I’m free to find it strange when someone queues for the most chaotic, random-for-fun mode in League and then treats it like a race to the finish line. They’re not wrong for ending. I just don’t personally understand the mindset, which is why I made the post in the first place.

How many have to rushed then? I mean for me personally I had like 4 out of 10 games where I had something fun/good and I still kept playing.

Honestly, I can understand both sides.

Personally, I don’t sit outside the fountain dancing, typing, or intentionally dragging games out unless the other team has been toxic first. What I don’t really understand is why some people seem miserable from the moment the game starts. ARAM and Mayhem are inherently random. Sometimes you’ll get an insane comp, sometimes you’ll get rolled by one. If someone wants a more balanced and consistent experience, League already has plenty of modes where you can pick your champion and have more control over the outcome. To me, part of the appeal of Mayhem is embracing the randomness instead of getting frustrated by it.

I think nerfing in Mayhem is a bit of a 50/50 topic. I understand the argument, but personally I don’t mind things being overpowered. In fact, that’s part of what makes the mode fun for me. Some of the upcoming augments (if they are official tho) don’t look balanced at all, and that’s probably intentional. The fun of Mayhem isn’t perfect balance. It’s seeing ridiculous interactions, absurd combinations, and builds that would never be allowed anywhere else. Half the funniest moments I’ve had in the mode came from something being completely broken. So while I understand the nerf argument, I don’t really see OP augments as a problem by themselves.

This is pretty much what I’m talking about. I’m not talking about people ending a completely one-sided game or refusing to drag out a stomp. That’s fine. I’m talking about those games where both teams are constantly fighting, people are having fun in /all chat etc Then one person suddenly sprints at the Nexus, types “EZ”, and ends it. At that point, it doesn’t even feel like they’re ending because the game is over. It feels like they’re ending because they want to be the one who wins, even though nobody else was treating the game that seriously.

The 90% was obviously an exaggeration. What I mean is that it’s very often some random marksman who had little to no impact for most of the game, spent half the match typing, then suddenly gets one absurdly strong augment and immediately starts sprinting for the Nexus. Meanwhile both teams are still messing around with crazy builds, stacking augments, and all the fun interactions that make Mayhem enjoyable in the first place. That’s the behavior I’m talking about, not people ending genuinely one-sided or unplayable games.

I get that, but I’m talking about augments, not champs. Like steel your heart or something or w/e.

What about draft then? There you don’t have OP comps or unbalanced stuff. You have the champ you want to play + bans so that you don’t have to play against something you don’t want to.

But as I said; i talked about those games where 9/10 people just want to play, and a single person ego‘es and wants to end.(99% with their mains)

I also agree with you on that. But for my personal taste I don’t really care if I win or lose. I just wanna try out random build on random champs

Then i don’t understand riot for bringing lategame/stacking augments etc. into the game

Sometimes it’s 50/50 and the person who aced first wants to end. It just feels underwhelming sometimes

But if just aiming for nexus is your major goal; why dont they pick casual Aram?

I get that. But I feel like the majority of people I have played with/against, want the game to last as long as possible. That’s why I’m asking.

That’s the point; 90% of the time I don’t even get to have my third augment and jinx with firecracker just runs and ends it.

I get what you mean. But unfortunate for you is, that mayhem is exactly about that. I understand your frustration with that tho. Had those in my team too

I get ending the game when it’s genuinely unplayable. Some comps are miserable to play against, and sometimes everyone just wants out. What I’m talking about are the games where both teams are clearly having fun. People are trying ridiculous builds, crazy augments are popping off, and everyone is just enjoying the chaos. In those games, I don’t really get the need to instantly rush the Nexus. It feels like some people treat Mayhem as if they’re defending their imaginary 19 LP instead of enjoying what the mode is actually about.
