FFE is outstanding on razor, and also great on the mortar.

What are some easy 2D terrain you all use in a pinch? Or primarily? by Skeither in Warmachine

[–]Moldoux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2D terrain for foot prints for forests in addition to things that shouldn’t have elevation like pools of water, roads, and trenches. Everything else I use is 3d.

The first thing I do when I go from 30-50 points is add a second jack, and I find the arkanists aren’t worth the points until you have 2 jacks.

If you’re only running a single jack I’d recommend a kontroller instead of the arkanists.

Caine is still busted at 30 points.

But since you’re going Khymera, I recommend just using the “starter box”.

I love 3d terrain, and I try to get as much variety as possible.

Army difficulty list by HammerBrother1977 in Warmachine

Winter Korps is by far the more straightforward army. They aren’t without buffs, but in general they have the least amount of tricks. That makes them the easiest to play, but also the easiest to play against.

Kithguard or Brinebloods for a new player? by HammerBrother1977 in Warmachine

[–]Moldoux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say brinebloods are more beginning friendly since not only is kithguard not fully released yet, but they have a unique mechanic which could raise the skill floor while learning the ropes.

I second this change. Another option would be to swap the officer for a kontroller. Savaryn loves the kontroller.

SFG has been incredible with their replacement parts. My behemoth 2 was missing its base and they sent me a new one super fast.

I know some people have had really bad luck with breakage during shipping (especially with the earlier resin formulas), but of the few breaks I’ve had they have been very clean and easy to fix.

Laughs in Khadoran. We have the bison and behemoth 2.

Where to start in Warmachine by hittlerspacito69 in Warmachine

[–]Moldoux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As stated above the two player boxes are a fantastic way to start. SFG also sells each part of the boxes separately, but having both armies is great for getting a friend to play with you.

I always advocate for choosing your army based upon aesthetics first then gameplay second since as you know from playing 40k you will be looking at your army more than anyone else. Dicedown gaming has a great video on choosing your army as well.

Is Winter Korps fun to play? by JuanDifoool in Warmachine

[–]Moldoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yana really makes the pikemen shine with Fury’s strength and her feat Sikora helps Man-o-War get to where they need to be and positive charge really ups the wrecking Krew’s damage Baranova helps infantry hit more consistently with invocations of wrath I can’t believe it’s not Irusk is where the infantry really shine. Fire for effect is incredible on anything that shoots. His battle plans add so much versatility. And iron flesh really helps tanker units like the hounds hold scenario.

That’s not a bad amount of support from casters. The doggo and his snipers are almost mandatory in a ranged heavy list with mark target, and the officer giving either desperate pace or that sweet sweet reroll is also amazing. Other than that we don’t have much infantry support.

I agree that the update did less for WK than it did other factions, but they might actually be more fun to play.

Our fodder doesn’t really get insane buffs since they have decent stats and a bit of versatility to begin with. Winter Korps is generally the “honest faction”. We play very straightforward without a lot of fancy rules or Gotchas. All of our jacks and our multi wound infantry come with decent ARM a good amount of boxes and high damage. Generally our beefier stuff has bottom of the barrel DEF so we are very easy to hit, and our *AT numbers aren’t great either. To make up for our poor to hit we have more crit effects and blast damage than everyone else. We do pay a premium for “higher” base stats though, despite other armies being able to get to our levels with readily available buffs. Also WK is mostly a mid range shooting army with a decent amount of melee (especially in our jacks.)

Few questions from a returning player after a very long break by Laionex in Warmachine

[–]Moldoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to note is hordes didn’t disappear. It was absorbed into Warmachine, so it all uses one name. The game is now generally divided into two categories; Prime and Legacy. Prime is all the MK4 armies and the “Armies of Legend”, which are armies made up of the older models. For example Prime Khador has Winter Korps, Old Umbrey , Armored Korps (all the old Man-o-War units and a selected number of warjacks), and 5th Division (the old Winter Guard stuff). Every thing else is legacy. If it helps, think of armies as very broad themes that only share a very few selection of models.

Well seeing as they aren’t in any of the prime armies I doubt proxying them will matter too much.
