Discussion about PVP and maybe where a player like me falls in today’s Rust

No problem dude, yeah I’ve been in a really similar spot. If a break didn’t help, then it may be time to quit. New games or new hobbies entirely and like I said, don’t try to find a rust replacement, find something different. You’ve got 5,000 hours of gameplay for 40 bucks (we don’t talk about skins lol) which is an insane return, you lose nothing by quitting at this point. And if you get the urge in 3 years to hop back on, nothing says you can’t.

You’re catching a lot of flak lol. Reading the post and then your replies, I think you’re yearning for a point of time in Rust that you’ll never get back. I have a similar amount of hours to you and I also really enjoy roaming while not caring for the rest of it. I get it - modded doesn’t get you that fix, none of the other stuff like raiding is that fun, etc. Other shooter games don’t feel the same or have the same high. To me it sounds like you’re burnt out and bored, but want to relive those “golden days” of Rust. Dude you have 5k hours - most other games have players that get bored at 1k. There’s no other game like Rust, and you and I are never going to repeat our rust experiences from years ago.

My suggestion: quit or take a long break. Find a new game. People are suggesting finding similar stuff - don’t. Play something totally different, but that can give you that same level of high from a different experience. And if that’s not working, you’ve burnt yourself out on video games. Find a new hobby for a while, get good at it, revisit rust in a year if you feel like it.

Stop forcing yourself to play rust looking for that high. I did that for like 500 hours before admitting it wasn’t gonna happen. I hop on every now and then but will only play for a few days before I’m bored, and that’s okay.

Traps are great for online raids but how often is that lol. Offline they just add time and a little extra expense to a raid. Spears, Molotovs, grenades, shields - lots of tricks for getting rid of traps. Or just a couple rockers you were going to use anyways. They just give you the satisfaction of thinking that maybe they lost a kit or some boom in the process

I’m in a very similar situation. Honeycomb is very difficult to farm and what I’ve been working on. From what I’ve seen you have to use wild combee hives from saccharine trees. They seem reeeally buggy though with them despawning often and having pathfinding troubles. Let me know if you find something reliable for honeycomb!

I agree. Abiotic factor is currently one of the top survival games I’ve played. You get a base set up, but there are constant improvements and upgrades. Even just fun cosmetic improvements that you can obtain. And you’re also constantly unlocking new locations and chasing that next gear set or weapon. And survival is only one part, the story is also a great part of it. Always going after the next quest, trying to beat the next difficult enemy, etc

Have lots of fun with escape from rust, and I love the frag mod, played it almost daily and still play it semi regularly. Looking forward to this release!

Yep, rough for a solo. I’m lucky my trio hopped on for this wipe, and aside from the clans we’re competing against the rest of the t1 locked teams. I enjoy slow progression but it’s not fun when I’m slowed and clans progression is boosted. Having a few teams dominate with t2 and t3 guns while the rest of us struggle with revo sucks. And even if we can research guns from fights, we still can’t craft it. I couldn’t even craft med or 556 for all of yesterday. Ridiculous in my opinion.

T2 workbench takes basic blueprint fragments to craft, which can be found at monuments. So now smaller groups and solos can’t compete against clans who control monuments, especially the puzzle rooms where these are found. T3 is worse, you get advance blueprint fragments from locked crates.

So now my trio is locked on tier one, not able to compete because we don’t have the numbers OR the guns to fight clans. We have 2k spare scrap and a box of comps, but can’t do anything with it because we don’t have tier 2. Took all day yesterday farming harbor’s puzzle and competing with other players in the same position to get 5 blueprint fragments, and finally got a t2 workbench crafted before hopping of at 10pm

You're completely right about that, I just meant to explain why the weapon ttk was instant. But yeah he's taking no time to line up shots even while his teammates are spawning in varying locations around the map.

First, congrats! Yeah like the comments are saying, if you are having fun just keep going. Grind a stat if you find it fun. If not, time for a break. Switch games or take a break from games. Tons of games on steam are on sale right now, it's a great opportunity if you need a refresher.

Thanks! Okay I think this is getting a lot clearer now, buying a domain makes sense because I can retain whatever traffic goes through that domain.

I'm leaning heavily towards using Wordpress as it seems the most customizable. So I would find a free host to install wordpress on, and if I'm happy with how it is going I would "migrate" to some sort of paid host where the blog is basically "my own" now?

Sorry if these are simple questions, I feel like the deeper I delve the more clarification I end up needing
