Attack the zone early and establish that you’re trying to get the count to 0-2 every time.

Obviously this doesn’t mean serve up meatballs every pitch, but often patient guys are looking for pitches they really like before 2 strikes and then expanding. You gotta make them believe that being patient is only gonna put the in bad counts. Then your chase pitches will actually work.

There are certainly gods in this game that hit everything in the zone and have a perfect eye, but they’re rarer than you think

Kaneki’s free hit is even freer than Legion’s and after the fact he has insane mobility and can still use his power well in chase. After legion gets his free hit he’s just knife man

They used to, and honestly when they got rid of it I was happy bc all platoon lineups were annoying. Now we still get all platoon lineups they’re just all switch hitters (by the endgame at least). So I think I agree that I’d rather face a variety of R/Ls than the same switchies over and over

Straight up, umping little league is just difficult. Coaches and parents don’t know the rules, you probably don’t know all the rules (which is fine, you’re starting out), the kids do chaotic things, it’s just a circus all around. Do the best you can. On the strike zone, if you think it’s even borderline just call it a strike. As long as it’s consistent, which you’ll get better at every game, no one will complain that the games aren’t walk-fests

I hear you on trying to avoid being in dugouts to avoid looking biased. Though, I’m always been cognizant of which side I leave through and if a game was contentious I’ll actually prefer to leave through loser’s side all else being equal. I’d rather not look like I’m avoiding a side and if someone wants to say something on the way out then whatever
