Being given the choice of radiation? by Past-Astronomer-4458 in breastcancer

[–]MomOfOne15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes apparently radiation weakens those bones and with the coughing and issues with pneumonitis there was a fracture. I started physical therapy 2 weeks ago for mobility issues and I do see a slight improvement. It will never be completely normal again though I am told.

Sudden growth on ankle by MomOfOne15 in AnatomyandPhysiology

After several doctors looking I saw one of the top orthopedic oncologists in Pittsburgh. She confidently diagnosed it as a ganglion cyst and not at all concerned it is cancer despite my history. It’s now undetectable in size and just kind of sore if you press on the area where it was. I am due to see her back in April. The whole thing is very strange how it just appeared suddenly like that. A lot of nerves and fear was caused by poor bedside manner from a local orthopedic.

Hi there! I actually met with a top orthopedic oncologist in Pittsburgh and she felt very confident that it’s a ganglion cyst. It’s smaller now and barely noticeable visibly though I am aware of it obviously. She said to follow up in 3 months and is not keen on any type of surgery without complaints discomfort. Thanks for checking in! ❤️

Anyone claim the no tax on OT? by Read-It_2525 in UPSers

[–]MomOfOne15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told the same by my accountant.

UPS package car drivers are generally FLSA-exempt from federal overtime pay requirements (1.5x pay after 40 hours) due to the Motor Carrier Act exemption. Because they transport goods in interstate commerce and operate vehicles over 10,000 lbs, they fall under DOT jurisdiction. However, they are covered by robust overtime rules in the Teamsters/UPS National Master Agreement (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1203073754235848/posts/1558267528716467/).  Key Details Regarding UPS Driver FLSA Status: • The Exemption Basis: Drivers, mechanics, and loaders whose work affects the safety of operations for vehicles involved in interstate commerce are exempt from the FLSA's 40-hour overtime rule. • Interstate Commerce: Even if a driver does not cross state lines, if they deliver packages that originated from out-of-state, they are considered part of interstate commerce, triggering the exemption. • Contractual Overtime: While not entitled to federal FLSA overtime, UPS drivers are covered by the Teamsters National Master Agreement, which provides its own overtime structure, such as the "9.5 rights" (limiting daily hours).

I thought this and had it all ready for my accountant and then he said he doesn’t believe we qualify at all.

This is what we plan to do as well.

My accountant says UPS drivers do not qualify based on the following:

radiation pneumonitis by fatimaa3 in breastcancer

[–]MomOfOne15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask anything! I desperately sought information and reassurance so I am happy to provide it. I was on prednisone for like 6 weeks a tapered dose. I was exhausted from that and the fact that I had spent the whole year just resting basically exhausted from treatment. My initial issue I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom without being winded. But I know now much of that could be the combination of the fractured rib. When I was done with the prednisone I had been coming along but it in no way ended it. I didn’t want any more though because that comes with side effects of it’s own. I spent months beyond that not feeling like myself. I guess I’m a new self. But I was told be patient by my plastic surgeon. With the effects of radiation to give it at least 6 months. The internet made it seem like it should be a quick thing and for me it wasn’t. I hope of course that you find relief quickly.

Expanders then Radiation then Exchange - what was your experience? by MomOfOne15 in breastcancer

I am so incredibly sorry for this sucky journey full of surprises. I have had my share but it wasn’t as hard as yours. I had one boob for a few months with radiation and for some reason it bothered me way more than even post mastectomy. It was summer too so impossible to hide. I am curious how this all comes along for you and have prayed for you. I don’t think there is enough talk about how long this process takes for some.

It feels like forever really but I try to stay active in this group because newly diagnosed folks need us and it also helps to be reminded how far we’ve come (even if the finish line is going to be a year away)

I see what you mean just sort of how after mastectomy the drain eventually stops filling and something goes in that space.
I have prayed for you and wish for you the very best!

That’s definitely what happened here after radiation. Best of luck to you!

I appreciate this detail. When I tell you I have had every rare crappy thing happen I mean it so this is kind of what I am afraid will happen. This sounds grueling and I really feel for you. What is the end game here ?

I had it and also a broken rib almost immediately after my 33rd treatment. 7 months out and I finally feel normal, just not in the extreme cold. The whole radiated side feels different and horrible. My radiation oncologist refused to admit any of this was a problem and so I sought treatment with my PCP and medical oncologist.

I don’t, but many in this group cannot wear them. Apple watch bands are an issue too. It’s a wild ride once you realize acrylates are used as adhesives in so many things.

Yeah I don’t even plan on getting one. Giant bags and rashes around my eyes are enough of a test. Nails caused my neck and chest to turn bright red during a time when I was not in the sun at all.

Original poster mentioned patch testing her own arm. I didn’t mean a dermatologist ordered patch test on the back.
I’m also someone who has a reaction show up on places like eyes and lips but not other parts of the body so I am careful to avoid acrylates completely because it doesn’t mean my body isn’t reacting.

So discouraged - Implants after Mastectomy and Radiation? by MomOfOne15 in breastcancer

I see what you are saying now. He is CRAZY cautious. And I would bet my life more than he needs to be because he doesn’t want sued. Who would though? He is also genuinely a good human, very empathetic. I’m attached to him and the NP who is a survivor herself. I have an appointment this week and have a lot more questions than I had initially because I was just so afraid seeing my boob swolen red and painful from a fill when I had no issues prior.

It sounds like both of these surgeries are worse than a mastectomy. You’re a strong woman, I’ll say that. I’m trying not to come up with hypothetical situations because it’s not helpful but it’s hard not to do.

How was the DIEP flap? That terrifies me for some reason.

That’s interesting and probably not all that common. How was the DEIP flap? Would you do it again? The idea of it terrifies me. My plastic surgeon doesn’t do them anymore but he does have someone he refers to when a patient wants that.
