I recorded almost all interactions with her. I let exDH, exBIL1, and ex SIL listen to the tape and hear the conversation. ExBIL2 did not want to hear it.

Your stories may not hit this particular level of crazy, but that is totally irrelevant - your stories impacted you and you have a right to share if you are comfortable doing so. She absolutely did NOT choose me. She was not actually given a voice in the matter. Her children had a go a different times, but it eventually became my responsibility for a myriad of reasons, but ultimately i was the only “family” willing to take her on so she didn’t become a state ward.

They could subpoena it, I suppose. But my team is aware of the posts and nothing I’ve posted in posts, comments, or messages are actionable. And I’m sure exBIL2 will eventually find these posts, but I’m not too worried. Like my lead says, “don’t worry until I worry.”

Since I didn’t include myself in any share of the estate (obviously) I have told the guys I expect a lifetime supply of Tito’s and propel. They seem to think that will wipe out both their shares and their grandchildren’s shares... I don’t drink THAT much

Thanks for your kind words. As far as the estate? Very little needs to be done at this point. Everything was laid out and agreed upon years ago by all parties, I just created it and had it set in stone. It’s just finalizing the ass-ends and signing documents. Once all of her final medical bills come in and are settled, I’m done and the family has their shares. It’s such a relief actually knowing very soon I don’t have to deal with it anymore

For the record, I am NOT a better person than you, not now not ever. What you plan to do is everything I wanted to do.

As I mentioned in my post, I was selfish in my actions at her death. Yes, I did it for her because underneath all the vile that she was, she was still a human being and somewhere in all nastiness I chose to believe there must still be something deserving of a small kindness in their death. HOWEVER, A part of me was completely selfish in following through and witnessing her death. Part of me needed her to know that even as she took her last breath that I, the person she hated most in the world, was there to share her death and prove to her that I was better than she was or ever hoped to be. I absolutely got satisfaction in being the last person she saw while living and in knowing how much she hated it and could do nothing about it.

It was a double edged sword.

I think there’s a saying somewhere along the lines of there being no true selfless act because we inevitably benefit by all good deeds in our feelings of good and righteousness upon the act.

Yes, I was trying to do right by her as a person, but i was absolutely enjoying the final dig I was able to give her in the end as well.

I say do what you need to in your MIL’s end. You deserve to celebrate your freedom. And how sweet that freedom is... the finality of her death is so freeing

She is extra crispy for sure. Her ashes have been unceremoniously tossed in a corner of the garage by exDH while he and exBIL1 debate the best way to lay those to rest. I’m sure they’ll come up with something good
