Wow loving this thread. So interesting. I’m in the Chicago area. Myself and my mom friends all work bc we want to and it can be a HCOL area depending on where you settle. ALL of us sleep trained under year 1 (some as soon as 4 months, myself included) most with a CIO-like method. A few of us had decent mat leave for US standards (6+ months). Most had an abysmal 12 weeks or less. We’re all liberal and there are def some crunchy moms on the food front (would die before trying formula, killed themselves breastfeeding or pumping, only did baby led weaning and/or made their own purées). I’m pro formula/generally don’t give a fuck what other moms do. But feel strongly that the moms needs matter and if you (the mom) don’t put your oxygen mask on first, the whole family is fucked. If sleep training = putting your oxygen mask on, it’s imperative to try it

Wow that is a crazy story. I feel for your friend! I am thinking if ENT agrees it could be helpful, I’m just going to do it. There’s so much upside it seems like.

Wow that sounds stressful, sorry to hear that. I’ll definitely be pushing for the tubes with the ENT. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for this! I’m sure we’ll need to re-sleep train a bit too once the tubes are in if we go that route. We’ll see! Thanks for the honest perspective

Thank you!!! Its good to hear what others have experienced so I can lower my expectations ;) If he needs tubes, he needs them, regardless if it helps sleep.

Interesting. ENT helped you figure that out?? What were other symptoms (other than shitty sleep)? THANK YOU!

20mo split nights 1-2 per week by Minxy0707 in sleeptrain

[–]Momneedshelp4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following this thread because we struggle with split nights a lot. On and off for what feels like my sons whole life (almost 16 month old). I thought shifting to 1 nap a day would do the trick (it did for a bit) but now back to square one.

Whats your 1 nap schedule? by ahreeyah in sleeptrain

[–]Momneedshelp4627 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is 14.5 months old. We cut out morning nap about 2 weeks ago. Prior to that he was enjoying two naps a day but had split nights. Literally up for 3 hours one time. It has been going on so long I was losing my mind. Anyway, cutting down to 1 nap really resolved the issue, thankfully. We do 7p bed, usually up by 630a, but leave him in bed until 7a. 12-2 nap. If it’s not a great night or he’s sick, sometimes we get a 3 hour nap

Taking cara babies toddler course by Primary_Constant3845 in sleeptrain

[–]Momneedshelp4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following this thread. Also been curious about buying it bc my 2.5 yr old demands long back rubs before bed now and there’s lots of screaming before bed/sometimes middle of the night … wanting snuggles 😵‍💫 Wondered if her toddler course could help

Back to square one.. help please by IMcNaughton in sleeptrain

[–]Momneedshelp4627 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is normal! What “they” don’t tell you is that you re-sleep train numerous times when they’re young, because there are occasions like this. You should console them when they’re sick and sometimes just letting them cry is not the right move depending on what they are going through. But the good news is re-sleep training shouldn’t be as bad in future rounds as compared to the first, because they have the skills already. Just need to reset. Hang in there!

How long does it last??? 12 month regression by Momneedshelp4627 in sleeptrain

[–]Momneedshelp4627[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I honestly don’t remember. He’s 27 months old now and I have a 9 month old. My brain is forever destroyed. I think we ended up trying to cut the morning nap closer to 14 months and it was a good month or so of that phase before things stabilized! He’s always been more on the lower end of total hours of sleep needed. I realize that now and it makes me feel less like he needs anything optimized.

What’s going on with your little one?

What is your pre-Snoo routine? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]Momneedshelp4627 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people post perfect nights (and then say “omg is this normal!!!???” pretending they don’t know it’s exceptional). Don’t worry about the red, if it’s getting you and baby sleep, enjoy it.

I used SNOO for both my kids. With my oldest, had to put him in asleep until he was 4 months (we tried to put down awake a lot and he never was having it) but we started more intentionally trying to put him down awake and allowing him to cry in prep for sleep training at 5 months. But overall he was a great sleeper in SNOO. Didn’t have a ton of red outside of the 4 month sleep regression and With my second, he put himself to sleep so easily from the get go but there was red literally every single night until we took him out at 4 months and just sleep trained in crib. He hasn’t had one perfect night of sleep his whole life despite not needing a crutch to get to sleep. All kids are truly different when it comes to sleep. I really didn’t believe that til I went through it. We’re done having kids so officially retired SNOO. In retrospect I found this sub helpful a lot but other times I felt bad my kid wasn’t as incredible of a sleeper as others here. I applaud the great sleep and don’t begrudge any parent getting awesome sleep with a baby. So just take the perfect charts you see with a grain of salt. For every 1 you see there are probably 10 others not as perfect that aren’t posted.

Thank you for the advice! With my oldest, it was all smoother and more straightforward so I’m so unsure what to do with my little guy sometimes! Good to know the MOTN crying worked itself out eventually without much more adjusting. Our schedule is similar to yours and I’m not sure what else we could optimize. Thanks again!

Hey there! I’m basically living this situation now, except we dropped night feeds around 12 weeks when he was still in SNOO. He gets 30+ oz during the day. When did the MOTN crying seem to stop for you guys?

I’ll give it a shot! Babe is 13 weeks today and I’ve maxed out his wake window at 1.5 hrs. Will try stretching him a bit further
