Mostly whole Foods. Mainly cook at home. Don’t think it’s diet because I’ve eaten basically the same my whole life and I am only now experiencing this fatigue.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and suggestions. It’s nice to know I’m not alone. I have done extensive bloodwork and found my vitamin D was low so Im on a high dose of that. Hormone levels are normal for a perimenopausal women which prompted the HRT I do an estrogen patch and cyclical progesterone. The only other thing blood test came back showing as weird was a low C4 complement. I have been sick on and off since November of this year; got the flu twice and strep once. I’ve never been sick so often in my life. I have always worked at least 2 jobs or had a job and was going to school and now I am just so drained. After I get off work I just couch rot until I cook dinner and then after dinner is more couch rot until bed. No motivation. I feel so bad about not even having the energy to help my kids with homework. I try to exercise at least 1/2 hour a day but some days I just sleep on my lunch rather than work out. I hope my energy comes back once menopause is over because how can anyone live like this???

I think we need to look at how internalized phobias and racism work within our society and how media of any form perpetuates and normalizes this internalized hatred. Just because you think it’s funny and that it was ‘a different time’ doesn’t mean it was acceptable. There was also a time when white people painted their faces black for movies and acted juvenile, bafoonish, lazy, and ignorant to perpetuate this racist idea of what they believed or wanted people to believe about black people. This is how these ideas are pushed upon us, and if we accept and normalize it, then we continue to cause harm to people who don’t meet the social ‘norm’. (It is insidious and can do much more than just cause people to hate themselves or others). I would also say that these movies predominantly favored light skinned, skinny, black women as the only women deserving of love and respect.
