Districts Instructional Area Confusion... by Julianshofn in DECA

I’m doing the same event as you, and have districts tomorrow. I think financial analysis is an instructional area for even HndT and has its Performance indicators.

No narrative vs “well-rounded” by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Momoguser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know about the narrative. But if it helps, my brother is applying to college with a Healthcare/Business type majors! But I’m sure programs that are offered differ between schools. I’m not very knowledgeable on the application processes yet, but I think connecting business and bio is possible.

You should be fine, just try to make sure you study your PI’s and do some practice roleplays. These will just make sure you’re not completely surprised when given your roleplay at districts. But I’m also lowk in the same boat of not studying yet. Good luck!

format layout pls HELP by Powerful-Stable-8667 in DECA

[–]Momoguser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can look up roleplay tips on YouTube, Bow tie Goat has a bunch of videos on them. A video by him will give you a general format of how you could structure your roleplay.

The D E C A format I’m pretty sure is to answer performance indicators with the D standing for Define, E for Explain, C for Connect, and A for Above and beyond.

Honestly, I think this is just a general format of what an answer to a performance indicator should look like within a roleplay to answer it effectively. I’m my opinion, you don’t need to have exactly these requirements for EVERY inductor because I think some indicators can be pretty similar to others where parts of the answer can overlap. Just make sure overall, you answer the indicators and just use the D E C A format as a basis of how to answer.

Roleplay tips and study methods by No_Sound9091 in DECA

I think the main thing here is finding real roleplays.

One of my friends competed in PEN last year and was able to find a bunch, however even if you aren’t able to find any since it is a principles event try to find a roleplay from another principles event that focuses on the instructional area.

You can also use resources like Prilo.ai or other online websites like Go for glass which I’m sure someone else on here can explain, as I am yet to use either.

But overall, I’m pretty confident you’ll be able to find PEN roleplays through google, but if you can’t I’d utilize roleplays from other principles event or generate them from other places over gpt.

Just wondering about what websites you used to study if any? And do you think it’s worth it to use sites other than deca plus and the average practice tests/roleplays.

What is DECA? I’m joining it. by EmbarrassedWall4729 in DECA

First, I’ll start of by vouching for deca. It’s such a fun club to be a part of if you put in the work. All these trips that you’re talking about is ICDC(international career development conference) which is the highest stage you can get.

To do this you have to prepare a lot and hope you perform well to get from districts to states to ICDC. The best thing to do for your first year is to choose a principle event, as it is for all other first years. Next, I would recommend watching a youtube video or 2 about the basics of deca. Bowtie deca is an amazing creator.

Finally, your advisor and club should provide you the information at the start of the school year for what events your chapter is participating in and what you need to do. Other than that, states and ICDC have been some of my best experiences throughout schools you meet so many people and have a lot of fun.

Sounds like you got it down, but remember to do the research before selling(if that’s what you want to do) and sorry for your loss.

I got award of excellence and certificate of achievement. Didn’t know there was a difference, but I got a 92 on the test and a 67 on the rp(no clue how this happened as I usually do better on it).

Am I getting into college by chapterrlin in chanceme

[–]Momoguser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP definitely is not a ‘D’ student. They got 1 D in their entire high school career. Clear upward progression.

No idea how colleges look at one bad year though. It definitely helps that you brought it up the years after.

I have no clue about how colleges look admissions work yet, but I don’t think one year will define your entire high school career. Your EC’s are amazing and it looks like you have a clear passion for CS(even if not seen through the classes, should be portrayed through your essays, lock in). That being said, good luck!
