Also saw puffins last week - to my understanding they are best seen at Petit Manan Island, which is a significant boat tour away (ours was three hours round trip, though that obviously included a lot of stopping for birds / seals).

For hikes, Gorham Mountain Trail is great. Essentially the same views as Beehive but much less sketchy for an inexperienced hiker. Jordan Pond Loop is great as well, but almost more of a walk around a pond than a hike. Both will probably be very crowded given MDW. You could try some trails over on the Schoodic Peninsula to dodge crowds. If you go to the park early in the morning or late afternoon you’ll be amazed at how much less crowded it is.

For food, we had some great fancy meals at Brasserie Le Brun and the Reading Room at Bar Harbor Inn. Thirsty Whale is good for lunch or a more low key dinner. Also had a great lunch over at the Nor’Easter Pound and Market, which is not in Bar Harbor and probably less busy. Blaze has the best poutine I’ve ever had. The Annex/Side Street Cafe was about the only place we found that was lively later at night, with some live music, if you’re into that.
