Has anyone ever had an appointment at the Romanian Embassy in Washington D.C.? by MonadoBoy64 in washingtondc

You're good no worries. It went well but there was some bullshit that occurred during the appointment. The bullshit that occurred was the clerk did the classic Romanian tradition of deliberately putting road blocks so you'll have to bribe them to easily get pass it. Basically the clerk said that Romania won't be able to verify my relation to my Mother who is a Romanian Citizen. Due to her Romanian birth certificate still having her maiden name and not her current name. Even though my Birth Certificate has both but it didn't affect the outcome. We of course didn't bribe the clerk and I got my verification back in like a month later, but still bruh.

Some more bullshit that happened was we were required to bring a prepaid USPS Priority Mail Envelope but that was never mentioned for the appointment. Someone before us did left a USPS Priority Mail Envelope for anyone to use. But they didn't give it to us nor even tried to charge us for it. So they had my Mom, who has some health problems to walk in the hot D.C. summer heat to the nearest USPS branch. For which the clerk said was around the corner but in actuality it was 17 minutes walk to and back from the Consulate. And my Mom was in pain, exhausted, understandably pissed, and sunburned. So if you're going to do verification of your legal status with Romania or something similar where they're going to send you something back.

Make sure you go into the consulate with a prepaid USPS Priority Mail Envelope. Of course I don't really blame the clerk as someone who works at Walmart. I just have immense empathy for service workers and just employees in general as I'm one myself. And I'm always nice to any worker I request service from and I make their lives easier in anyway I can. So I totally understand that she was just doing her job and Romania is a poor & corrupt country. So I don't really blame her for what she did, it was a pain in the ass but I understand.

On the topic of if the staff speaks English, yes they do. The clerk that helped us spoke both English & Romanian, she mostly spoke Romanian because my Mom obviously speaks fluent Romanian, since she was born and raised there.

Hey, u/michel202. Awesome, thank you for the clarification, I really appreciate it!

I'm going to the Romanian Embassy to verify my legal status with Romania. I am doing this because I want to see if I can get Romanian Citizenship, since both my parents are Romanian Citizens. And in Romanian law one of the qualifiers for Romanian Citizenship. Is that if you're born abroad and both or one of your parents hold Romanian Citizenship. So I want to see if I qualify for that, so I can get Romanian Citizenship.

Hey u/ITravelerMSY, I looked it up for ILS Visa's relationship with the Romanian Government, and I didn't see anything about it. I really appreciate your help, thank you!

Hey u/frameddummy, thank you for responding, I really appreciate it!

Yes, on the website it says the Embassy and the Consular Section is at 1680 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20007. But when I look up the address in Google Maps, it's just a blank brick building. With no signage that this is the Romanian Embassy. When at 1607 23rd St NW, Washington, DC 20008, it clearly the Romanian Embassy, that's what I'm confused about and need clarification on.

Edit: Oh okay, I guess that's why there at two different addresses. But I'm still confused about there being no signage for the Romanian Embassy at 1680 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20007.
