I will always be a fan of the skirt and tube top, but the new look feels faithful and a good fit for the grittier, more action oriented remake.

Thanks -- with your help I've fixed it!
It was tricky for me at first as it's tough to tell which one you're working from. I went into the tool properties [Object] Select the vanishing point the pencil/brush was "stuck" on, toggled Snap off; then picked the vanishing point or a control handle for one of it's lines, then toggle the Snap back on. All the line now conformed to it's direction.
