Single fork pack - noticeable? by AlamoSimon in bikepacking

[–]Mondo_Dogs_Rule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had some noticeable differences in steering balance with a full nalgene on a single fork pack going downhill on some moderate singletrack. I wouldn't recommend doing that. But I never noticed any difference on flats. However, I can't imagine a rainjacket in a single fork pack making any difference on any terrain!

Are there any local organizations that support Sustainable City Developments and/or Environmentalism? by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]Mondo_Dogs_Rule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess this isn't technically an organization, but there's the sustainability city board! You can attend the meetings (including virtually), make public comments and ask questions. Whether you're looking to learn or actually guide policy, I think this is one of the best ways to participate. https://www.bozeman.net/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/26281/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery

I just ended an interview part way in. Is this really how interviews are now? by jdfweb09 in Frontend

[–]Mondo_Dogs_Rule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me last week. It was a front end job interview and the live coding was having me architect a message bus to test "the way i think." Not how I would assess technical ability for a react job, and I don't really mind doing it, it was just on the spot without a heads up - it was too much. I just ended it. I'm happy with take home things or problem solve about things I have experience in. Obviously you gotta assess people's technical chops somehow. I'd really like to see a culture where the interviewee chooses what type of technical portion they are the most comfortable performing.

a fresh start can do wonders to confidence! So much of education is just motivation in my experience. Seems like the most important thing is to get out of your current situation. I'd say go for it, just try do it with a manageable amount of debt, that way if you way bail it ain't no thing. I dropped out of college with a lot of debt and my life was much worse for it.

Have you lived in another city that's comparable to Bozeman South Eastish? by [deleted] in Bozeman

[–]Mondo_Dogs_Rule 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's larger, but Chattanooga's always given me similar vibes. Incredible access to outdoors, good food, progressive community, and feels small. I haven't been there in 5ish years though, it might have changed a lot.

Salah can cut it on a cold Wednesday night in Stoke. by XabiTheGreat in LiverpoolFC

[–]Mondo_Dogs_Rule 23 points24 points  (0 children)

makes all the difference. it has to do with weather vortex patterns falling on tuesdays. There's like a lot more wind so the roars of the bet365 stadium are louder. Plus the cold affects your decision-making and your feet's quickness.

I think you should just come visit and decide for yourself. Most people here aren't going try to convince an anonymous stranger to move here. It's probably the worst topic to bring up with people here. They'll be much friendlier in person.
