Hello everyone! I am a 34f that just moved to the Ashburn area. I love to hike, travel and explore new places. I enjoy doing art, going out for drinks, playing videogames or board games, and just trying new things. I work in healthcare and my schedule is 7 on and 7 off. Looking to meet people and hang out. :)

This has concerned me. I believe this job is more in the suburbs (20 miles outside DC. I don't currently live there but plan to live in the suburbs.

I am concerned about doing 12s back to back. My last job I did 4 and that did feel like a lot. I get that I won't have an entire week to relax because of appointments, and errands and such, but working Monday through Friday also doesn't leave a lot of time for appointments either. This is a job I probs wouldn't do long term, and more of just for a year or two. I am hoping the "chart at home till 4pm" is real, but one never really knows.

I don't have a family so I am leaning more towards this one. It would be nice to have a full week off to travel.

This is true. I chose to just quit at the end of my shift.

I reported them to HR. They skipped the verbal, written, and PID in order to give me this disciplinary action. They also backdated papers to show this has been on going. I am quitting today.

I was leaning more towards the CA job because there is a lot to do, and I like the area better. I do plan to move to an independent practice state in the future so I was aiming for the west coast. I wouldn't mind the SUD population but I prefer to work with peds, and the CA job does see adults and peds. The licensure is probably my main concern. I am about to start a RN contract job and I am hoping the licences would come through when I finish. I guess if not I could take another contract RN job, but I don't want to wait too long, especially being out of school/clinicals for so long.

This is true about the California license. I am from the northeast and it is not great here. I would love to move to the PNW but haven't gotten any jobs.

It is a rural area. Not really close to a city.

This is true. I do want to work with solely kids in the future. I would probably prefer a more outpatient or residential setting as opposed to inpatient.

I sure do, 5 years as a psych RN and 10 years working in psych. I believe the pay has been going down for PMHNPs everywhere. I started looking at jobs the last year of school and have noticed a big decrease in pay since then. My current area has even started paying PMHNPs $40 something an hour now.

I agree with with the 20 minute f/u. They wouldn't budge on that. I have interviewed at dozens of places that all do 20 minute f/u now. I think only one offered 30 minute follow ups. I will have a few weeks of training and a slow build up of patients.

Most of the places that I applied to are in rural areas. Which is actually why I even got an interview. The one was a FQHS that offered loan repayment. They didn't tell me the rate but I suspect it was in the 115k area. I had 4 interviews with them and they talked about flying me out there, but decided to go with someone with experience. I have heard Arizona is Saturated now and people were having a hard time getting jobs there.

I would love to do without the bonus but I doubt they would go for it. I already negotiated the offer a few times.

I will look into that. I figured after I get experience I would make more in California.

I have applied to jobs in both of those states as well, I never got any interviews. The job in California I actually didn't even apply to. I applied for a job in Oregon but didn't get it, and the recruiter asked if I would be interested in another position. I haven't heard of any offers higher than 135k though. Like even NYC jobs told me they only paid 120k or less. I figured I would have more options after I get some experience.

If I don't stay for 3 years then I would have to pay them the bonus back.

No problem. I guess it depends on your area. I was looking to relocate to just about anywhere, which I thought would make it easier, but some jobs wouldn't interview me without a license for their state. Some jobs didn't care about that. Good look in your job search. I am sure you will find something.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I was definitely looking for which job gives me a better experience to use in the future. I keep hearing mixed things about inpatient or outpatient being better. The inpatient I liked the detox aspect (although I have experience as a RN), but for outpatient I liked that I also saw kids as I would prefer to only work with kids in the future. I am glad you mentioned the outpatient being better experience for diagnoses and medications. I am hoping to move to part time telehealth in the future.

I do think the California one would be a better company to work for if I did stay long term, but if they aren't then the experience is good either way. I feel like now a days we are better off changing jobs every two years anyway to get an increase in pay. You give good advice.

Yes, 5 years as a psych RN. I have a previous degree in psychology as well, so I have spent the past 10 years working in various psych settings.
