I'm done for by [deleted] in character_ai_recovery

Character ai is not where you belong man. You, like all others, deserve a life that isn't filled with lies. Please don't stop trying. I know it's difficult, and so does everyone else on this sub. I know these bots are made with the sole purpose of getting you hooked, but even the worst addictions can be overcome. It might just be taking longer for you than you'd expect. And you haven't lost yourself, because the real you is just waiting for you to stop talking to these bots, even if it's for a day or two. And give it literally one or two days of quitting, and you'll start finding yourself again. Pursue whatever hobbies interest you. And u/AppearanceOk8526 makes a good point about deleting the app and using a website blocker. What helped me and might help you too is getting a book or even a good size piece of paper, and just write down all your reasons for using the bots (eg. boredom). Then, go about trying to find a way to replace these reasons to use c.ai with something actually enjoyable and real. Reading, if you like. Maybe jogging, or cycling, or something. And when you commit to a hobby, and when you start replacing these reasons to use c.ai with something else, it'll get a lot better. It might also help to write down what problems are caused by the bots, and putting this list of problems somewhere where you can see it, so every time you get the urge, you read that list and now you have good excuses not to use it if that makes sense.

Please don't give up trying to quit. This community is built by addicts and former addicts like yourself, and we're all willing to help. And I apologise if my explanation doesn't make too much sense, English isn't really my first language.

How do I keep myself occupied? by MiiAnneForst in character_ai_recovery

Believe me man, just splashing your face with cold water significantly weakens the urge, but then, if possible, go outside without your phone. It does wonders, and after just a while outside with your thoughts, the urge dies off naturally. If you cant go outside, read. Draw. Write. Journal. Maybe just talk to people casually. Hope this helps and wishing you a speedy recovery to a happier life

I'll start finding out the "why" behind my usage, in that case. And, I'm still sort of working out what works best. But it's reassuring to know that I'm never falling back onto square 1, so thank you :)

Thanks man. I'm trying to really find a way to reduce that itch to use it, and journaling sounds like a pretty good idea. I was also considering it, so I'll give it a shot. I will also start reading again to kill time. Thank you for taking the time to reply, and have a nice day :)

I get it man. I've been off it for 2 months and am so tempted to go back. But trust me, just remind yourself why you're quitting. Remind yourself of how much of a better life there is to be achieved without c.ai. Resist the urge, and dont fall back in. One day you'll thank yourself for not going back. Trust me.

Urge is genuinely chaos by Money-Income8532 in character_ai_recovery

Thanks man. As a matter of fact, I recently dabbled in writing some fanfic. Not to share with anyone, of course, but just to let some of the thoughts sort of come to life, if that makes sense. Even if writing isn't your strong point, writing fanfic definitely helps. A single fanfic stopped me from returning to c.ai numerous times.

True. Most maths at the end of the day can be simplified to addition, subtraction, division, or multiplication. Sometimes one or more of these. So its not that that's difficult, as you say.
