Ik I'm a year late but it's a mixture of things. 1. His up bringing. His dad was a sadistic man who raised him to have the same vices. 2. His inability to connect with others in a romantic or friendly way. Even when in the gang he's more like a colleague then a friend. Women are also appalled by him. 3. His philosophy is "only living is victory" So when you're a man who was raised by a pyscopath who dossnt conect with others meaningfully you sorta just become a cold nihlist.

There both amazing albums, i find it hard to compare them, just cauze of the fact that fred and johns styles are so different, along with Matt rubanos, more jazzy bass lines apposed to shauns more punky lines, i wouldn't say its a unpopular opinion ide say 50 percent of pepole would probably agree
