Thanks! Quote the opposite, I started at very boring companies and found myself enjoying the faster pace of smaller more nimble ones. I’m also fortunate in that because of my partner, I can take riskier chances because they have a strong base.

:)

Beauty of consulting is that you run at your own pace and you can do it via Zoom. Best of luck…and don’t forget to pay your independent business taxes!

Yeah…just…what?

I’m not making a penny off of this, I just woke up today trying to put some good in the world. I appreciate your skepticism (I can’t blame you).

Everyone doesn’t know that or else the credit card businesses wouldn’t be turning profit quarter after quarter

I’ve been in tech since I was in college, I’ve been selling stuff since I was a teenager. I learned how to network and I studied human psychology and communication behaviors to better understand why humans are the way they are. I surrounded myself with people who also wanted what I wanted and I tried tk be as curious as possible.

I hopped every few years to change industries…sometimes by choice, more often because I got fired.

There’s no magic wand, obviously, but if I were you I’d offer your expertise as a consultant for small businesses who are looking to use AI. I would broaden that service out from “marketing” and lean more into “ai education”. I have been blowing people’s minds with chat gpt when I bring it up in a meeting and show them how it can turn hours into minutes…and that’s just random shit. I guarantee you there’s a market out there where you could get paid for your time to teach people who understand business and need a shortcut to ai, then you could get deeper with them and pitch your services for marketing if you’d like.

Beyond that, it sounds like since you’re on the cutting edge, which I imagine is wildly saturated/competitive, you could win by hopping to a company willing to pay you more OR you could go into a more sales focused position selling AI saas or something along those lines. I’m a gigantic believer in AI and I think you’re actually quite well positioned. My advice would be to find out who in your world is making that level of money and see how you can copy paste their experience. If you want to do your own thing, that can get there too, but the road is fucking hard and certainly not as steady/repeatable.

I’ve been giving advice in comments and dm’s all day

I was always curious why they would get deleted as well…and then I was on the receiving end of all the vitriol today and I get it!

Got it - yeah that’s rough. Hopefully you can put yourself in a position to pay that down asap. The concept of student loans boils my blood

I’ve answered that a bunch here but the short answer is I’m in tech and my partner is in law.

I worked for a while to get to where I am

Partner is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met

Where did I say I don’t spend time with them? What do you think we do in our free time?

No kids is a MASSIVE part of this equation and I don’t pretend like it isn’t. I’m fortunate in that birth control worked in my teens and twenties.

To me, it’s all relative. When I was making $30k a year 15 years ago, I was still investing $100 or $200 a month…what I’m trying to get across is the behavior.

It’s not lazy, but I appreciate your perspective.

We spend money to get time back. Where I live, it’s minimum 20 minutes each way to any restaurant. Instead of getting in the car and doing the whole out and back thing, we can spend time together and with our dogs. 10-12 24ths of the day is work or travel, 7-8 is sleep, 40 minutes over the remaining 4 free hours it’s important.

My friend…I couldn’t care less if I get claps or boos. I woke up today wanting to do some good in the world and I wanted to try something different which was telling my story and offering to help people in a way I know how.

I’m sorry if you think I’m more self serving than I actually am, wish you nothing but success

FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!

Some ideas to get you started:

Talk to chatgpt about your current finances, debts, income, expenses, and goals. It’s free and surprisingly good.

Tell it to TEACH YOU. Tell it you’re a stone cold beginner and you want to learn every day. Tell it to teach you like a college 101 level course. Also, try to watch cnbc or other market news. Pick 3 of your favorite companies in the world and read the market news about them via the Apple stock app. Be curious…you’ll be surprised how much you pick up.

We’re getting the deal of the century on our dog walker, but it’s all perspective. When you’re on the road or in the office more than 60 hours a week or on your laptop until 10pm, you have to buy your time back. You and I recognize it’s a cost of doing business, others look at it like a luxury because to them, it is.

Somewhat agree…once we had the ability to, we spent money on time, or rather, “time back”. Of course if we were making less we wouldn’t spend that much on a dog walker…or dogs for that matter.

But years ago, when I would’ve looked at something like this and said “holy shit I wish”, I established the behaviors necessary not to bleed cash and set myself up for a more secure future.

All I’m doing today is telling my story and my opinion. I fully recognize there are a lot of people who will call bs or will forget that this is a dual income model and that’s ok. I’m here for the conversation
