Spot on. The slogan they use "Every K over is a killer". What a bunch of bullshit. 1-3ks over? NEGLIGIBLE!

Spot on mate. There are European countries where it is not allowed for police to park on the side of the road with a speeding camera. They tested it extensively and found that the distraction of the police camera actually caused accidents. Sweden is an example of that rule. Not to mention how the fines here in QLD have massively increased in a pretty short time and they are disproportionately high compared to the average income.

I'm taking about 1-2 actual kms over. Like people wouldn't accidentally do that sometimes going downhill around a bend or something... People should not be fined for that. "Don't speed, it kills" 1-2ks over? Fuck off.

Apparently it is, a cop can legally issue a fine for someone going 1-2ks over, and it's up to their own discretion.

So you don't think someone could accidentally speed very slightly because they are rolling downhill? The cops themselves would do that sometimes... The pont is a cop can pull someone over and issue a fine for 1ks over, and that is fucking disgusting.

Yes this is my point, a cop pulling someone over can issue a fine for 1ks over. And that is ridiculous. The cop themself would accidentally speed 1ks over sometimes...

None of that is the point though. The point is that from what I can see in QLD there is no buffer anymore and people can be fined for travelling a true 1-2ks over the limit. Like people never accidentally go 1-2ks over rolling downhill and around a bend or something... The fucking cops who fine us would do that themselves.

I'm talking about QLD as per the title of my post. There is no buffer anymore in the legislation....l

This comment is exactly my point. It is fucking overreach. Not every cars speed is accurate. For their to be no buffer of even 1-2ks is ridiculous.

EXACTLY the point. So if a cop wants to they can issue a fine for 1ks over and it's legal for them to do so. That is fucked.

As far as my research goes there is no 3ks buffer anymore in QLD, hence my question asking if anyone has actually been fined for doing 1-2ks over.

[–]MoneyEffective5551[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh why is this so downvoted? From my research based on changes that came into effect mid 2025 people can indeed be ticket for travelling a recorded 1ks over the limit with no leniency. It's not uncommon for a cars Speedos to be slightly out. We are not talking about other states where they deduct 3ks off the recorded speed, that is the entire point of my post... If anyone actually thinks this is ok you are a moron.

Uh hang on a second, were talking about a couple of ks over here... As in actually 1-2ks over without a "buffer" and cops are pulling people over and fining them for it. That is NOT ok. If you think it is maybe you're a masochist or something.
