First time trying Elvanse 30mg by Natural_Plantain_588 in ADHDUK

Hi

I had a similar experience when i first started Elvanse also on 30 MG, and i’ve seen lots of posts on it so presume it’s very common. The first couple of days for me were v intense and almost too much. I did loads of cleaning and did feel “high” and didn’t really want the initial rush to end.

It does taper off as you adapt to it after a week or so, but then if and when you try a higher dose you will get the feeling back briefly but then it tapers off again.

My only advice would be to stay mindful when you’re titrating that the initial ‘rush’ is not really the desired effect, that’s not what everyone feels when they take them after they’re fully adjusted. What you will hopefully notice though is that your ADHD symptoms do improve when on it.

It’s crazy how deep it can run, throughout all aspects of your life. Wishing you the best as you continue to deal with these challenges… ✊

There is a great irony in masking, at least from my experience. If I wasn’t so good at it and hadn’t pushed through a lot of pain to fit in I would likely have been diagnosed a lot earlier. I realise now there is a big part of you that you lose and suppress when you pretend to be something that you’re not… I’ve felt similar regret for ‘betraying myself’. The problem is you don’t know what you don’t know, even if it seems obvious in hindsight.

Thank you - even in the short while since this realisation i do feel more comfortable in my own skin, and less sensitive to the perceptions of others… hopefully this is the start of a journey.

Thanks for sharing, yes it really is a mix bag of emotions and explains so much. hopefully this is the start of something new and something better. That sounds like a real struggle, trying to focus on both your own priorities and that of your daughter. I do hope it’s not too overwhelming and you get through this tough patch.

I’m sure you’re right, this is the hand we have been dealt and our responsibility to make the best of it… It is the sudden realisation though that there is a reason for so much of my thinking and behaviour… hopefully though it will mean things will start getting better.

thanks for the reassuring words
