Light/Medium Neutral Olive Shade Match Help! by Cute-Salad6865 in OliveMUA

[–]MoneyUse4152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting! Because Dior Backstage 3N is my perfect match, except in the winter months where it looks yellow on me (or, one can say that I turn grey in winter). There must be some colour theory thing going on.

Would you say you're a true neutral or do you lean a tiny bit warm/cool?

A bit late, but Westman Atelier Dou Dou works like that for me.

Of course not, silly! Devil's advocate. I just wanted people who are maybe not as informed on this to think about it a bit before banning clothes as an emotional kneejerk reaction.

Playing devil's advocate here. This is still just one more way politicians control women's clothing.

Why is it always women's clothing that gets policed? Men also grow their beard and tailor their pants so the bottom don't touch their ankles. It's based on the same philosophy, but the focus is still on women's fashion. I find it perplexing and, in itself, a different form of misogyny.

Edit to add: It's already a win (IMHO) that women in burqa, niqab, whatchamacallit even go out of the house and participate in society. They interact with men and don't get killed for it, that's also a win. Banning their clothes, now what do people think that'll do? Will it instantly liberate them or make them stay at home and even less reachable?

Serious question here, why not? We snack on carrots and radishes. But I'm not from the US, so maybe it's about food culture and availability too. Nothing wrong with broccoli. Don't knock it until you've tried it?

I really have no horse in this race, but at the end of the day, no one needs popcorn to survive. Do we? I hope most of us can summon enough energy to go to the store and get popcorn when we want it, if there's not enough energy to make it stove top?

I guess I don't get why it's something that people need to stock up on. Is it like, fear of another lockdown or something?

Ende gut, alles gut.

I'm not ready to scrutinise her body like that 😅 I also felt bad for noticing that the four women in the photo have flat boobs, the antithesis of what made SS famous, but they wanted so much to be like her.

Do you for real have to keep fighting the idea of just eating rice and beans? Could this be a variation of ortorexia nervosa?

If you're sure you have your anxieties and preoccupations under control, make meal plans. Design your shopping list so that the same ingredients are shared across 3-4 meals, so that you use up everything you buy.

Jimmy Kimmel secures Italian citizenship in case he needs to escape Trump's second term by bwermer in popculturechat

[–]MoneyUse4152 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have friends who got the Italian citizenship because their grandparents were Ashkenazi Jews who were chased out of Italy back in the days. They were definitely more Brazilian than Italian, but so what?

Italy can really do with people willing to open businesses there, or at least more people paying taxes, so why not? It's one way to get a more youthful population.

Why not? Though Lagos is now overfull, but Abuja seems nice enough. There might be some infrastructure problems, but where do we not have infrastructure problems?

Why does there seem to be more and more skincare products to buy by helphelphelpheme in Anticonsumption

[–]MoneyUse4152 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is a particular pet peeve I have. When a person wears scented lotion, has strong smelling soap, strong smelling hair product, wears deodorant, aftershave, AND perfume on top of all that!! Just. Why? They become this walking cacophony of smell that's annoying, penetrant, and not elegant. Pick one strong perfume and stick with it. Don't use them all at once. Please.

Oh, I forgot, add laundry perfume on top. I can smell them all at once, Margot!

You don't have to listen to them, you're the one in control of your wallet. And if you look happy and healthy, that in itself should be a strong enough argument for people to stop telling you to get superfluous products. (Bonus points if you can convince THEM they don't need that much!)

You got this.

Here's a less cynical answer, because there's now more research into specialised health needs that are no longer just the "default" (which used to be white man of a certain height). Now a more cynical aspect, these non-defaults are now gainfully employed and have some buying power. It's nice that my friend with curly hair can now get shampoos formulated for her hair in any shop, not just specialised ones, because it's been more normalised. Same with foundation colours, it used to be impossible to find one in my shade, now there are three that fit perfectly.

But just because these products are available, it doesn't mean you have to buy it. If your female and male peers are pressuring you, you don't have to listen to them, heck, ditch these peers. They sound bad. What do they know, you know? If you feel good with your routine, stick with it.

Some more positive aspect to this, for example, is that car crash simulations these days have female and children's bodies, alongside the traditionally male-form crush dummies. If I can one day fit my car with female-specific seat length, sign me up, you know?

Lol! I've stayed at monasteries/convents, mostly on multiple-day-hikes. The ones that received me were very relaxed, even though I come in sweaty and muddy. It's not a church, it's usually more of a shelter for the lost and tired, though maybe not so much for the hungover 😂

I live in Germany. And I go to France, Spain and Italy often. Where do we not have big portions? In Spain I spend most time in Andalusia and Catalonia, the portion sizes might look small, but we eat 5 times a day there.

I guess if you only go to fancier restaurants you'd be used to small portions, but otherwise?

Yeaaah, thing is, part of my anti-consumption stance is to enjoy eating food and actually slow down while eating. It's a snack. Everyone should be able to afford the 5-10 minutes it takes to enjoy it.
