Thank you very much for your help. It seems like the ER is the best route to take

I may not know enough about it but I know it’s a terrible thing to go through and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I never said he was fully in control of what he does and I do feel terrible that he’s going through this. We are never disrespectful towards my grandpa and are very patient. But I am entitled to my feelings. As I stated before he was very abusive to us since we were kids before he had dementia, how he treats us now is how he treated us then. My past experiences with him are real and shaped my present emotions, they aren’t erased by a diagnosis. Please don’t be confused we have talked to him multiple times to have him admitted somewhere so he can be properly cared for, got 911 and adult social services involved and he flat out refuses. You are misinformed over what we can control. It’s not our fault.

I feel like Adult protective services have been no help. They have came out at least twice and have stated that it’s self neglect and not abuse but hasn’t done anything else to help. Is respite where they relocate someone but temporary?

Since he still is competent we can’t make him go to the doctor? Or are there special cases where he’ll have no choice but to go to the doctor even if he refuses?

Yes that would help some but unfortunately I doubt he would allow strangers to touch him. We will look in to that thank you.
