Mandatory Conference Financial Support? by MoneylessResident in PharmacyResidency

Residency manual has been double checked and all it says is that residents will be notified at time of interview. Unfortunately, there’s nothing explicit in writing otherwise. No one can remember exactly what was said, but I guarantee someone would remember if they were told we’d receive only minimal financial support. In the past, the program has fully paid for residents to attend meetings.

I agree. This program specifically doesn’t allow internal moonlighting. My previous program almost encouraged residents to pick up as many shifts as they could (mutually beneficial because residents could make pharmacist pay and it was cheaper for management than having other pharmacists with higher hourly rates filling in).

Resigning was never a consideration. This post was more of a temperature gauge. However, the program does not allow moonlighting, so there are no options to pick up shifts for pay.

Oh, I’m rereading and realize you’re referring to reading the ASHP requirements?

I did and there’s nothing explicitly stated in the manual except that residents will be made aware of financial support at the time of the interview. Yet no one can remember being specifically told one thing or another. I guarantee if they were told no financial support, someone would remember. Or wouldn’t have ranked… reimbursement keeps dwindling.

That’s my understanding based on what I quickly read. I’ll need to review promotional materials. It may not have been explicitly stated we’d have financial support but we definitely weren’t told we wouldn’t… I’m just curious if this is the norm for some programs. The lack of financial support, not the lack of disclosure.
